No this isn't a con thread or anything like that. The thread title was just too easy though.

However, I will be in St. Louis for an entire week from approximately May 1st to May 8th. While I will be involved in a bunch of things, since it is the Cardigan Corgi National Specialty I will probably still have time to see people. One of the things I was considering was seeing Billy Joel's Movin' Out musical which is going to be there at the same time.

Any other suggestions? Who besides Dan_Raven actually lives around there?

AJ

I'm not that far away--3-4 hours perhaps. I drove further for WenchCon. However, I'm also in a financial slump due to WenchCon and I'm not sure how long till I recover. We'll see.

Well this will give me some time to make some plans.

There is the world famous St. Louis Zoo.
The St. Louis Arch or course.
Blueberry Hill and the Loop for fun and late night debaucherie.
and the Casino's.

We can also give you the tour of Casa Davis, but its an hour plus from the Lake St. Charles site to my house.

On the other hand, we have to go through some prime Wine country to get there. Up for a winery tour?

Yeah, better watch yourself! Seriously though, I would have no problem hosting a small group at my house, then on to some local attractions.

I don't know how much time I will have.
this is the itinerary
http://sccardis.org/stl2004/schedule.htm

But, I'm not participating in all events either.

Monday will only be the morning likely.

Tuesday is out, I'll be involved the whole day.

Wednesday, while there are things I'd like to watch, I won't be entered in anything.

Thursday, Jake will be entered and they are having the annual meeting in the evening.

Friday, I would like to watch but don't have anything entered.

Saturday, They have a whole bunch of things scheduled and I have no idea which ones I need to be at.

Sunday is the drive home. Depending on whether I will have dogs to drop off in Iowa, I can leave earlier or later. I just need to be home in time to fall into bed and get to work the next morning.

Yes. I and Robespierre under the same stars, how odd.

I'm right by the Loop, in fact. And being 21 (finally), I can stay in Blueberry Hill to a decent hour.

There're a lot of good restaurants around Saint Louis, so eating won't be a problem [Smile] .

The place is actually pretty far out, all the way out around Wentzville, but its near 70 so coming into the city is still quite quick on off rush hour days.

What stars? In St.Louis city there are no visible stars. But yes, it does make one think.

I live in Shrewsbury. So it might be out of the way for most of you.

Even if one can't see them they're still there [Big Grin] .

You're only a few miles south of me, oddly, and in an area I'm likely applying for a job in. How odd.

This is Fugu's way of calling Robespiere odd?

My worry. We are possibly within three months of adopting our kids. With my luck this week I will be in Russia.

However, if not then I want to know if there is anything a non-Corgi owner would find interesting at the event?

I like watching little doggies run around.

I also suggest Ted Drewes and an Italian dinner on "The Hill" which must include Toasted Ravioli.

I think I'll go make my lunch now. Somehow this has gotten me hungry.

Zia's or Caneto's(spelling) would be my suggestion for a proper meal on the Hill.

Quite right. Oddly enough.

Monday and Tuesday would be the most interesting days for a non-dog-person spectator. Those are the days they will be doing obedience and agility. I may get there on Sunday in time to see the herding events but I'm not sure, it isn't in the same location as everything else either.

My friend who has been there before says that the time is pretty packed. A lot of it is just mingling and networking and having fun. The thing is if I'm going to do this I'd like to see some jatraqueros too. While I'm into doggy things I have a feeling I'll need a break in there.

I really want to see Billy Joel's Movin Out and it is looking like Monday evening would be the best time for that.
