Clicking on the big pink button to help women in need get free mammograms. You don't have to buy anything (although that helps too) or do anything special (advertisers donate money based on the number of clicks daily). Just exercise your index finger!

Maybe, but people might think it's just another Janet Jackson thread.
Mammograms are only the roughest of screening tools, I might add. Diane had a small malignancy caught early only because her doctor pushed for a ductoscopy. We're still fighting with the insurance company about it.
(they paid for the excision of the tumor and for subsequent treatment. they just don't want to pay for the test that found the problem.)

lusti- If it weren't for the seriousness of this thread, I'm sure a lot of guys would be posting about how THEY could help with giving free mammograms, or something like that.

PSI - Yah, I know... (about the guys wanting to "help") I'm sorry about your dream. It's always scary when things like that show up in your dreams.
sndrake - I'm sorry about the frustration with Diane's insurance co. It's frustrating when they will not pay for the things that you need. I'm glad that her cancer was caught early.
And yes, while mammography is not the be-all-and-end-all in breast cancer detection, it is much better than nothing (which is what I imagine most of these women would otherwise be getting).
I don't believe in prophetic dreams, for the most part; but a self-check might help you feel better.

I agree, ludosti. I was saying it badly, but I think access to mammograms are a basic standard of health maintenance for women. Access should be readily available to all.
Diane and I are relieved it was caught early as well. Tumor was malignant, but contained in the duct, with no sign of mestaticizing. She's on tomoxifen (sp?) but prognosis is good. Obviously, she is now considered high risk for recurrence and being checked on a regular basis.
