Looks like Drudge, despite his hopes, did not have another Monica Lewinsky story on his hands. Guess that investigative reporting award will have to wait for another day...

Woman Denies Rumors of Kerry Affair

quote:
NAIROBI, Kenya - A woman who has been the subject of rumors linking her to Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) denied Monday that she ever had an affair with the Democratic presidential candidate.

Link to her statement.

quote:
"For the last several days I have seen Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry. Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them. I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false. Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family. I am in Kenya with my fiance visiting his family, and we ask that the press respect our privacy and leave all of us alone."

What terrible timing for her. Sometimes I wish I believed in purgatory (for libelers). Today I was saying I hope George Lucas is subjected to each individual experience of the THX logo that he has inflicted on the public. Especially since you can skip or fast forward over it on some DVDs.

So my question is will anyone care that she denies it? Or will they still assume Kerry was/is having affairs?
Will drudge apologize?

As the originator of the rumor, Drudge is still running misleadingly labeled links to the various newspaper stories which cited him as the source.

See, I'm so glad I adopted my wait and see attitude. Even though I'm no fan of Kerry's I think it's wrong to jump to conclusions and assasinate someone's character without proof.

Poor thing. Must be awful to see someone spreading rumors like that about you. [Frown]

Well, it looks like Drudge is kind of sayin it's her fault:

quote:
She would joke that she was dating the next president of the United States, says a source.

Polier's flippant remarks and flirtatious manner, according to friends, fueled the intrigue.

I think that's the closest you'll see to an apology from Drudge. [Wink]

I wonder if her "friends" exist in the same alternate universe occupied by those "three reporters." *rolls eyes*
