For some reason, I can no longer log into Hatrack from my account at home; Christy logged me out of Hatrack in an attempt to send a message under her name without having to log onto the machine under her username, and discovered that she couldn't log back in.

Much to my dismay, I can't, either; when I try, it successfully processes my password and tells me to "sit tight" -- but then dumps me back to the "you are not logged in" screen.

I've deleted all cookies already, have restarted, and have tested other accounts -- which all work. So it's something related to my personal profile on this machine. Any ideas?

Wierd things have been happening at my end, too, Tom - all we have decided here at the 'rack is that Beren likes chocolate chip cookies. [Wink]

I don't have any useful suggestions, but it's become very clear that once you're logged into Hatrack, you should never log out!

Have you tried looking for the cookies yourself, or did you use the forum's "Delete all cookies" button?

Wondering if one of them got corrupted and needs to be deleted manually...

*blush* It actually was my fault. I had been on my laptop and have cookies set to ask. I automatically said no to one of them and the page wouldn't load. I couldn't find the cookie and didn't want to clear my whole list, so I had Tom turn his security up and try the page so that I could find the name of the cookie to delete it from my "ban list" We forgot and left the security on high for his profile.

Sounds like UBB is still a bit borked from the issues of the last couple weeks. Maybe not persisting server side sessions?

I don't think there is much you can do Tom. I think the Secret Conservative Cabal is just up to their no-good tricks again.

Bok: it's my fault; I had turned security up to prevent the acknowledgement of unsigned cookies, not realizing that Hatrack apparently doesn't sign its cookies. [Smile]

Not any more, no. But you can get a pre-signed cookie-plate at cost. Go to the contact page to request details.

Hatrack will still sign cookies while on tour, though. But it has required of its webmaster that it may bring its family -- Ornery, Nauvoo, and Fresco -- along on all future tours.
