Approximately 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year. In New York City, approximately 1,600 people are bitten by other humans.

Are all of these people chewing on pens, or is there a weirder explanation?

Unfortunatly, the suprisingly popular ballpoint pen and vodka shot is to blame. [ February 28, 2004, 12:23 PM: Message edited by: imogen ]

Well, this thread came along at just the right time. I'm working as a precinct officer in our primary on Tuesday, and I just got back from the mandatory class. We use a machine called an Accu-Vote in our county, that scans ballots as they are inserted into the ballot box. At the end of the day, to close out the machine, we have to put something called an Ender Card through the machine before the vote tally will be finalized. When they mentioned that in the class, I about choked so I wouldn't laugh out loud. I think the fact that they call it an "Ender Card" is pretty bizarre. But also pretty cool.
