...wait, I'm no poet. Um, I just want to say that I am so pleased with what little I have seen of the Hatrack forums. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that I would like the people brought together by OSC's writing. I like what you talk about. I like the feelings of genuine caring and respect for one another. I like the humor. You like Catan. You like Strongbad. What can I say? You've got class.

My hubby and I have been so deeply influenced by Card's writings. Few things have influenced us as profoundly. We call him "Uncle Orson" not just because he refers to himself that way, but because we are both his distant cousins (us mormons and our geneology). We even live in the neighborhood he lived in 20 or so years back. We think he is a great man that has done great things in this world.

I don't know if I will become a permanent fixture on this board, I don't have the longest of attention spans. But if I were to pick a forum to inhabit longterm, this sure would be a good choice.

That WenchCon looks like it was such a blast! It was fun to be able to see photos of some of the people here. So interesting how the internet has altered penpals.

Everyone has seen the orange tights. Didn't you know that you're all over the internet? You're like that fat Star Wars kid, but more bizarre.

We have to digitally edit in the sparkles, and tweak the voice audio so that it sounds like a lisp....

Welcome, Beverly! We're glad to have you. And you've already made my list of ReallyCoolPeople, so we won't mind a bit if you stick around.

Warning, though - it's strangely and morbidly addictive...

Thank you Annie! [Smile] I have been rather tied to the forum this past week. I think it is a really good thing for me. Being as I am a stay-at-home-mother-of-three, I fear my brain will stagnate at times if I do not communicate with some higher-thinking-peoples. I am more fortunate than most, though. This family has a stay-at-home-dad too! My hubby telecommutes. So I get to have stimulating conversations with him anytime I want. (Almost)

Well, your vocabulary is definitely more impressive a sixteen-year-old's, I'll grant you that. It would take me an hour in a thesaurus to remember the word "stagnate", and I doubt the word "hubby" will ever be part of my literary arsenal.

Anyway, I think it's great that both of you can be home at the same time with your kids. How old are they? If they're pre-Elementary school, I'd advise you use long words in front of them. They may not understand it, but at least they'll be better equipped for speculative discussions with their classmates. "Hey guys, yesterday my mom was talking to my dad about moving to a "condominium"! [giggles]". In any case, I'm sure the outcome will be better than my "Bowl sit!" episode that I swear to this day is my grandmother's fault.

Don't swear around kids that aren't yours, people! [No No]

Our kids are 4, almost 3, and 9 months. Our oldest goes to kindergarten this next school year. *sigh*

*wowee*

Beverly, you must be one busy Mom!

And mr_porterio_head, you must be one busy Dad!

All that and you still manage to deliver thoughtful and intelligent posts - I don't think I could do it.

( If I had three kids 4 and under, the quality of my posts would be something along the lines of "You're wrong. Because I told you so." )

(Edit: I did know you two were married... I just didn't read the bit about you being at home as well. Sorry! [Embarrassed] )

We don't "use long words" with them, we just talk with them. The end result is the same, because we certainly don't use small words with them, unless they didn't understand it the first time.

Oh, and BTW, those 3 kids are mine too. Beverly is my beautiful wife, and I'm her stay-at-home "hubby". (If she can call me hubby, can I call her my wifey, or my woman? Probably not.)

imogen, I have SO been spending too much time on the this forum lately. We make time for what we love, but sometimes we go overboard. I won't be able to regularly spend as much time here as I have been this last week or so. I have been having a blast, though, and I think that is good.
