Last Saturday, some friends had an Open Mike night in their house. There was a satisfying large number of people there. You could tell it was a slightly reserved crowd, because there was much more interest in being an audience than in performing - the only Anglos that performed read funny stuff from books.

Except for Scott, who is a phenomon unto himself and who dressed in a home-made kilt and sang a song about a Drunken Scot with scandalously scanty underpants.

And Rich, who borrowed a guitar and fearlessly sang the following lyrics, which were composed by himself. There are a lot of Mormons on Hatrack - some more aquainted with this world than others - and I thought y'all'd enjoy this. (I have permission to share.) (Caveat: I am only the messenger here.)

Sung to the tune of "Last Kiss"
quote:
Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
Last thing I heard was "s'not not you, it's me."
She said she needed just a little space
Course now she's gone without a trace.

I saw it coming, we were out on a walk,
She turned to me and said "We need to talk."
My stomach dropped and my blood ran cold
I've been through this 12 times, and it's getting old.
I'm 29, this break-up I can't afford...
Next year I get kicked out of the singles' ward.

Oh where oh where can my baby be?
Darling please, I'm down on bended knee.
Let's say it's mutual. Don't you agree?
So I can preserve some of my dignity!

She began saying-"You're such a great friend."
Of my traits and quality she made no end.
Five minutes in I felt hardly a cut
Then quieting down she said..."but...

"We're not a good fit, I just need some time.
It doesn't feel right [what a tired old line].
You're really great, it's just not working out
You're find a great girl, I have no doubt.
You've been distant, I couldn't tell you how felt
And to be quite honest...there's someone else."

Oh where oh where can my baby be?
There aren't that many more fish in the sea.
My broken heart is not the only thing.
Now I have to return that engagement ring.
