"Anakin's grisly demise at the end of the duel is set to be one of the most chilling moments in the entire saga"

"The climactic fight scene is, at 12 minutes, the longest fight scene in cinema history."

Duel

Wow, this movie sounds like it will be the best star wars movie ever! Im excited about it now.

Yeah? Well, wait 'til you see MY movie, "Fight Scene: The Revenge," which is a two-hour fight scene between Tall Man, Shorter Man, Man With Hammer, Man with Gun He Never Uses, and Man Who Knows Karate.

Some students in my high school did a short "film" called "Fight Like a Girl Club." I have a feeling it was mostly only funny if you knew the people involved.

Sorry, I'm feeling very random tonight.

On the topic of Star Wars, the first two have killed almost any hopes I once held for the third.

I hope MST4k or something else MST3k-esque will be made in thirty or forty years, so we can watch a full satirical commentary on Episode 1 and 2.

12 minutes? That'll be tiring. More to the audience than to the actors.

I agree, Book. Even the however-long scene in The Phantom Menace felt dragged.

Have you watched Episode IV recently? I really think that if someone were to see it for the first time, they'd rate it about equal to Episode I.

I loved the fight scene from the Phantom Menace. On the whole, that movie wasn't very good, but that scene rocked.

And I think Attack of the Clones was pretty darned good, on the whole.

There. It had to be said.

<- Has a sudden, inexplicable urge to watch the Phantom Menace again. Dunno why, maybe it's just because I haven't seen it in 3 years. I'm sure that watching the movie again will only serve to remind me of WHY I disliked it the first time. Bah, this urge can wait until the third movie comes out.

EDIT: I obviously can't spell.

*high fives Icarus*

Yeah, Episode I had problems. It had good parts and bad parts. I think going back to a series twenty years later is not a good idea. It's too hard to make them flow together, and it's just too hard to write a detailed, seamless backstory when you've already made three movies.

Lucas better not decide to make any more starwars movies after this. I shouldn't care, but I do.

I will, however, see the film when it opens, just for closure. And on a more positive note, there is continuity. Anakin Skywalker has been consistently annoying from childhood on.

***SPOILERS***

anakin's "demise" is that obi-one shoves him into lava. That's why vader wheres a mechanical suit.

Lucas is supposivly also planning on remaking episodes IV, V, and VI completely in cgi.

afterwords he plans to eventually make episodes VII, IIX, and IX.

***END SPOILERS***

I get most of my info from here, whether it's real or not, I don't know.

I'll watch it because I like seeing Ewan McGregor in jeopardy... you know, tied up or fighting or whatever. He's sooo... something.

I only hope that these movies have not completely ruined Hayden Christensen's carreer, because he really ISN'T as bad an actor as the "kiss-become-a-scar" scene (WTF?) would make him look.

And I have to agree that Lucas never made any friendship between Anakin and Obi-Wan at ALL believable.

I saw a spoiler pic of Ankakin all crispy-looking, though I don't know if it is an actual spoiler or a fan-produced hoax. Actually, Star Wars fans are now producing better stuff in that universe than Lucas is. Which is sad.

I doubt this very much.

The original plan was to make nine movies, but when episode I was released, he said over and over again that he would not make the final three. Personally, I hope he does change his mind, even as bad as episode one was. But I haven't heard that he has, and in light of your other rumors, I'm suspicious.

After having watched the extras on the Indiana Jones DVD collection, I can state without a doubt the George Lucas is the reason that Temple of Doom sucked, and that The Last Crusade wasn't as good as Raiders. During Temple of Doom, Lucas was going through a divorce and as a result, the film was too dark. Spielberg even said in an interview that the only reason redeeming aspect of Temple of Doom was that's where he met Kate Capshaw (whom he later married). The things that made Raiders a great movie had very little if anything to do with Lucas himself.

Indy 4, supposedly, deals with Atlantis and a much older (obviously) Indy. However, production was delayed after Spielberg greenlighted it because Lucas wasn't happy with the script. So he went back to rewrite it himself.

*sigh*

I had hopes for this one. It still could be good, [insert broken clock cliche here].

As far as Episode 3 goes... I don't think that there's anything that can be done for it. I'll see it a few days after it comes out, at a matinee. I want to see the end. But it's a lost cause.

Yeah, I like Temple of Doom also. It's very much an adventure comic book depicted on the silver screen, and I think they did a great job with it. Raiders of the Lost Ark is by far my favorite, but Temple of Doom is a clear second.

MEC, the Roman numeral for eight is not IIX, it is VIII.

I thought I had heard that Lucas had decided not to do episodes VII, VIII, and IX. There have been so many novels written about the time period following episode VI, that anything Lucas did would conflict with them, or at least wind up being compared unfavorably to writing by superior writers. Of course, Lucas may just feel that he's tired of the series.

Continuing the Star Wars saga would be too much like beating a dead horse. In this case, the horse is not only dead, it's carcass has long since been rendered into glue.

*Zips up flame-retardant suit*

Temple of Doom isn't the worst thing in the world. Far from it. But of the 3, I enjoy it the least, and it is both Kate Capshaw and Lucas' faults. I just can't find compassion in my heart for Willie. Every time she opens her mouth, she whines. And that is both George's fault for writing her that way, and her fault for doing such a good job at it. [Big Grin] But characters like that have always gotten under my skin, and I can't help it. I could probably do with a trout-thrashing for letting that ruin the movie for me. But only under protest.

After taking a moment to think about the movie without Willie, I do admit that it is probably better than I've let on. I'll have to watch it again.

(Shortround is cool, btw).

I saw Attack of the Clones on opening night.... in France. That was such a cool cultural experience, I don't know if it could be duplicated.

Sigh... being a Star Wars fangirl was so much more fun before it was all mainstream.
