My mom sent us a baby mobile for our cute 9 month old and I went and switched it for another one because the one she got played "Brahms Lullabye". Almost every single toy he has plays that song. So we get this other mobile that is called "Twinkle twinkle little star" thinking that that was what song it played because it didn't say otherwise. We get home and what does it play?....."Brahms Lullabye" AAACK!!!! [Angst] I would have gotten another mobile except that none of the other ones tell you what song it plays and if it does, it is "Brahms Lullabye". [Wall Bash]
I wonder if there is a place that sells different music boxes for mobiles... or maybe I can take this one apart and put in another music box....??? [Dont Know]

I've been there! Every baby mobile, toy, swing, rocker -- if they play music, 90% of the time, it's Brahms' Lullabye.

My youngest is four, and I'm just starting to be able to stand the piece again. [Big Grin]

I finally started insisting on "test-driving" music-playing items before buying them. (I kid you not.)

*hums* da-da-dah, da-da-dah . . . [Angst]

You should get the Brahms Second Symphony, from which the lullabye originates, I believe.

Alright, maybe that won't help, and maybe I'm just shamelessly plugging some of my favorite music, but it's still good stuff.

Well, simple solution is:

Don't buy toys that play music

and

Invent your own lullabyes.

My son still asks for made-up lullabyes. And all the other standards.

(sung to the tune of . . . well, you can probably guess)

When the baby
won't stop screaming
And you've tri-ied
Everythi-ing!
Then it's time
to take a break --
Maybe put her in her swing.
And to thank
the Lord above
That she likes the music thing!

So if your kid
never needed
Other musical 'companiment
Good for you,
but as for me
My voice gave out thirty stanzas back!

I make up songs to sing to mine too. We have a brushing the teeth song, and a brushing the hair song. They're silly, and really lame because I'm no songwriter, but they work.

Belle - you might not win a platinum album, but your children will bless you forever - those are the great memories they hold onto! [Smile]
