What is this world coming to? I normally don't post in serious threads for fear of offending someone or being ripped to shreds for my beliefs. Anyone who doubts that these things happen only has to check out the various threads on gay marriage for proof that they do.
I'll now repeat the question. What is this world coming to? Am I maturing, or is it that I feel more like a part of the hatrack family?
I know I can't be the only one who's shyed away from the serious threads. I hope that those who've normally shyed away from them, but have finally posted in one can help me understand this.
This isn't technically a landmark post, but if you want to archive it Papa Moose I wouldn't mind.

I was shy of the political threads when I first joined. It was not long after the war, and political tensions had made me flee my last online community. By November I am pretty sure I was over it. But I don't think any of the gay marriage threads got as intense as the "big liberal board" thread. At least for me personally.

It was such serious threads that kept me over on the OSC side of this board for over a year. I didn't even bother coming over until I felt like I could post in those threads.

pooka, that's exactly why I haven't posted in any of the serious threads before.
mr porterio head, I'm glad you made it to this side of the river.
I still don't know what possesed me to finally post in a serious thread. I need help understanding why I did it. Cold it be that I feel more at home here than I have in the past?
I'd like for those with psychology or counceling experience to weigh in on this question.

Derrell, I think it was sort of your pilot study for your visionquest. When that time comes, you will start your own serious thread, and you will carry it through.
You are young, grasshopper, but you are strong.

That's funny, Derrell, it was the serious discussion of gay marriage that first gave me the gumption to post at all. Now, though, I don't feel particularly inclined to post in the current serious threads. I guess I don't feel I have anything particularly important to say. But I would say that such a change does indeed mark something significant for you, and I think it is something good.
