I'm curious. I mean, why do they go for or against almost everything? Shouldn't they be neutral about them?

shouldn't we have an opinion? I mean...even if it doesn't matter much, having opinions about things is pretty normal.

Many people *are* neutral about many things. You don't hear that much about them because if you are neutral, you don't have much motivation to make yourself heard.
Take the "serious" threads in this forum. Most people posting take one side or the other. But most people on the forums don't post on most of those threads, because they have nothing to say.

I asked myself the same question a while ago. I got it down to some crap about beliefs, opinions, and feelings. The need for some people to succumb to their humanity appalls me.
I found that people find duct-taped mouths uncomfortable, but they have no problem with me taping my own ears. I've been flowin' down the deaf life ever since.

People "should" not be neutral about an issue any more than they "should" be for or against it.

You do of course realize that things wouldn't be 'issues' if no one took sides? Those things are called facts or truths or something other than issues.

I just like to stand for what I believe in. I will never force it on anyone. Just the same as Joe schmoe can have his opinion and stand up for himself as long as he doesn't force it on me. Force it on me the deals off, ya gotta leave.

At the house I live in right now there live 4 of us. Never is there an argument or a fight of any kind. We discuss issues and leave them be. Never is one person to be made to believe what someone else does purely because they believe differently.
force = be made to

the man, those are just the sorts of discussions I like to have. I hate it when someone is intollerant of my beliefs, opinions, feelings. It just, just...

I fervently and strongly believe that we should all be neutral about all issues, and anyone who thinks differently is a moron.

Lack of understanding is often a big reason people choose what sides they do, depending upon the topic, of course.

Personally I like to play the devil's advocate. but as a very wise teacher once said to me.... "I don't care what your opinion is as long as you have one."

There are many arguments I am neutral on, or more that I believe both extremes are wrong.
What I am usually most passionate about is fighting the extremes.
The one thing that gets me to make up my mind very often, is when someone states, "You are either with us, or against us."
I usually start working against them at that point.
That doesn't mean I will activily help the opposition. They can be idiots too.
President Bush screamed to the world, "On our hunt for Terrorists, you are either with us or against us." I didn't join AlQueda. I did make removing him from office a higher priority.

but even this is not an absolute, if i perhaps said "Feeding pitt bulls with infants is a bad thing, You are either with us, or against us." you be with us.
If something effects you, you are not going to be neutral on that issue (unless your swiss), You can stand their and claim that you are, that changes nothing.

But when does intollerence start? I can say that John Kerry would not make a good president. And that is not intollerent. I can say that John Kerry should die in some horrible manner, is that intollerance? NPR says no. Very often (but not always screaming intollerence in just excuse for not having any justification for you opinion.
