Hiya all! =) Had a little free time and thought I'd type this up.

The Tiresians always get a bad rap. No one ever talks about their great glories and mighty fall!

True, the Robotech Masters were the greatest tyrants in the history of the Known Universe, but think on it. They created a stable empire across the 20 galaxies of the Local Group that lasted for almost a half million years!

The Tiresians started from humble beginnings on the planet Tirol, third moon of giant Fantoma, located around a star in the constellation seen from Earth called the Southern Cross. Expanding across space they found the world of Optera, where the slug-like Invid and the enigmatic tri-parted Flower of Life lived. In the Flower they discovered that the echo of the creation of the Universe resided. Their greatest scientist, Zor, drew from the Flower of Life the greatest discovery in all history, PROTOCULTURE. Protoculture changed everything. Protoculture, not just an energy source, but a new force of nature, giving inanimate objects life, and giving immortality to things already alive. All based around the sacred number 3, the science of Protoculture was called by Zor, Robotechnology.

With Protoculture and Robotechnology the Tiresians became virtually immortal… that is the lucky few who joined the original Cult of the Triad (based on the Flower of Life) and became the Robotech Masters under the three Protoculture anointed Robotech Elders. The Robotech Masters refashioned Tirolian society in the Great Transition, created a culture based on the number three and all people were based around the Triumvirate.

The Robotech Elders, Nimuul, Hepsis, and Fallagar ruled in their holy Triumvirate over the great Robotech Empire for over 300,000 years. They took all the Flower of Life from Optera and kept the secret of Protoculture to themselves, thus assuring utter supremacy against all other life forms and societies.

They created from themselves a new warrior race of giant clones, the Zentraedi, to man their huge fleets and carry conquest and Robotech civilization across the Universe. The Robotech Masters were the undisputed rulers of the Known Universe for several hundred thousand years. Pax Robotech.

Their downfall was two-fold. Party because they were satisfied to have Protoculture and the mastery of it's uses, and did not care to learn HOW to make it. They kept Zor alive over the aeons and he alone made the Protoculture Masses and Matrixes. The second was overlooking the Invid on the original homeworld of the Flower of Life.

It didn't happen for countless thousand years had past. But, still furious over the theft and rape of their world they took on a new form…and being able to somehow replicate Protoculture without a Matrix were thus able to hold their own against the Robotech Masters and their warriors the Zentraedi. They sprang from Optera in a wave of mono-cellular reproduction and the War was on and a new Invid Empire was formed.

The Great War that lasted for a hundred thousand years… fought over 20 galaxies in the Local Group.

Over the aeons the infrastructure of the great Robotech Empire and it's protectorates along with the Invid worlds were nearly totally annihilated. The War became contained to the Milky Way galaxy and the old Inner Realm of the Robotech Empire around Tirol. Protocuture supplies became short with the destruction of almost all the Factories. Zor, coming out of the Compulsion placed on him by the Robotech Elders began to work against his masters. He felt utterly terrible and responsible for the rape of the Invid, the enslavement of all life under the Robotech Masters, and the terrible, terrible destruction of the Know Universe over the course of the War.\

His plan was to starve the Masters of their Protoculture and try and return the Flower of Life to the Invid. He bluffed and did not make any more Protoculture Factories. The last Matrix, held at the Royal Hall of the Elders in the capital city of Tiresia on Tirol, was stolen by Zor and placed on his greatest starship to fulfill his Vision: a vision that included Earth…and his own death.

Even in the Robotech Empire's dying days the Fleet of the Central Realm was 5 million strong.

As the Robotech Elders realized what had been done, and as their last Protoculture balefires were burning low, they ordered the Zentraedi to halt major conflict with the Invid and to hunt for Earth and the lost Matrix, the only hope of their salvation. As the Invid began to enter the Near Group systems around Tirol, the entire Grand Fleet of five million living Robotech ships jumped to Earthspace to reclaim Zor's old ship and the Matrix. But, was destroyed in battle with the Humans… events too strange to relay here.

With the entire military destroyed the Invid closed in on Tirol, that ancient holy grail of their wrath. As the Humans set off to sue for peace from the Masters, the Masters themselves evacuated Tirol with most of the Tiresian population to head for Earth! Ships pass in the night. The Elders, not about to risk their own lives on the dangerous non-hyperspace journey to Earth, stayed behind on Tirol… planning to jump to the homeship fleet as soon as their Robotech Masters had taken the planet. Again… strangely, the Humans left behind on Earth defeated the Masters.

Thus ended the great Tiresian Civilization

Zor's Vision occurred and the Universe would change forever.

PS> The three Robotech Elders, the last fragment of their extinct culture, survived…. again, by strange chances and stories.

A couple of the guys I went to high school with were Robotech geeks. They even talked me into playing the Robotech RPG with them, and even watching some videos of the TV series. I think I may even have read a few paperbacks.

I never really caught the vision. There were some interesting points, but it didn't really float my boat.

Just don't sing anything by Min-mei.

One of my previous bfs was a big time robotech geek. I thought the first series was interesting but the 2nd and 3rd were dull. He got me to read one of the novels (don't remember the title) and it was interesting at least.

I don't think that was ever in doubt.

Also, if it ever had been, his posting the homer beer song would have swept aside all reservations.
