On recommendation of sarcasticmuppet, Porter and I went to see "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" tonight, a BYU theatre performance. Ah, that was great. I thought it was funny how everyone laughed everytime Sir Tumnus said "Spare Oom". You'd think these people hadn't read the book!
We wondered why we had to wait in line outside the theater to long before being seated. When they brought us in, we discovered why. Part of the props involved people lying in rather uncomfortable positions on the ground shrowded in black. The show started late, we don't know why, but I really felt for those people. They must get so sore doing that!
A lot of people brought young children to the show, and I remember thinking that the youngest of them wouldn't get much out of it. At one point there is a really, really loud noise, and afterwards I didn't hear any crying! I was impressed and surprised.
I have always loved the story, and it was wonderful to see it brought to light with its own twists.

Oh man! When I was in Provo, they were all sold out. I'm glad to hear it was good.
I saw a theater production of Shadowlands once, which isn't by CS Lewis, but actually is CS Lewis onstage. It was so fantastic. I bawled for 3 days.

Well, this was definitely not a musical--it says "Adapted by Joseph Robinette" Too bad. I would have loved to have seen a musical adaptation!

Oh, and while I've got you here, how was your camping trip? I noticed both you and Hobbes were gone for awhile after that. Did you camp for the week, or just the weekend?

I'm glad you liked it beverly. Robinette's script is sort of aimed at child performers, and is rather weak in parts. At the end Aslan says "We all make mistakes, Edmund...what matters is that I'm hitting you over the head with our ten-pound moral. Isn't that nice?"

dang. danny's great. I know he's been working on it for a while. he did a show a little while back called Soft Shoe. anyone see it? dang, again. I was hoping he'd finished it.

Rohan: George Nelson, who directed the play, asked the Lewis Estate if he could write his own adaptation of the book, and got a big fat "no". Who is this musical-writer you speak of?

Whoa, I was about to freak out there, thinking you were the Aslan last night. He was sooooo great for the part!!! What a great part to have!
Oh, and I forgot to post the amusing conversation I eavesdropped on in line. There were a couple teenage girls behind us, and one was complaining to the other about this horrid little boy she has to babysit. As I listened to her tales woe, I thought, "That sounds exactly like my son". Now I wonder what our babysitters talk to their friends about!
