Does anyone know if I can change the idle settings on my AOL account? I have dial-up, and I'm trying to download the CoH beta, which is a huge download (725M), and my computer keeps kicking me off-line after 90 min, right in mid download.....
Is there any way to fight this, or should I give up?
Thats the solution to every single AOL related problem.
There is no reason to have it. If you want dialup, then services like Earthlink and NetZero have internet for half the price or less.
The reason you are paying 20 dollars instead of ten is that not only are you paying for the internet connection, you are also paying for the software. Whats ironic there is that IE or netscape or opera is better than the AOL browser and are free, and the AIM service is free to download.

Oh, no you di'ent. I must be blind because not only did you put IE in the same affirmative sentence as opera, but also you said something good about it. Not to mention you forgot Mozilla. And, as we all know, IE is pure crap. The only thing worse than IE6win is IE5mac.
I will work on the AOL thing...
Okay, so I called AOL, and well that did not work. I had to lie, and not having the problem myself, I could not be accurate enough. However, what I think it is is that you have a time limit set. To take it off, you have to go to the perental controls to reset it. I hope that is enough.

My only issue with IE is support. It is behind the curve as far as compliance is. Anything using its engine is going to be equally bad. In my oppinion, everyone should be using Mozilla - FireFox. But we don't live in a perfect world.

Use the zmodem protocol. It allows resuming.
(Ok, not really, just a little sardonic at the moment.) IE's treatment of PNG transparency is inexcusable, but I'm too lazy to switch. All I want is something that lets me browse, and perhaps add features like the Google toolbar.
BTW: I'm in Netscape7-Solaris now, and it handles the 'tab' character in forms annoyingly. Way more annoying in everyday Wikiing than the PNG bug.
People still use AOL? TW strips them from the company name, their online division publishes most of their previously premium content on the web, broadband sales show no signs of peaking...

Last time I checked, the browsers that are IE based still have to deal with the IE security vulnerablilities, correct?
