Well, not really. Sounds like a waste of 80-90 minutes, to me.
What I'd like to do is get to, say, France or Italy in 90 minutes (and for under $100 - yeah, right).

OK, if you mean in the Space Shuttle, then sure. The view would be worth it.
I thought you were just touting some new high-speed travel. If I'm going to be inside something whizzing along at jetliner hight or lower just to be back where I started, that would be a waste of time.
