Interesting. Hawaii 5000...

I wonder what that could signify.

Could it be Hawaii Five-O, 3000+ years later? Dan-O is a Honda Robot. McGarrit is cloned from a hair follicle (what else?)

Or, could it be the island's answer to Botany 500? 10x better line of mens clothing?

Maybe it's how many night & weekend minutes you get on the new Verizon calling plan for the Hawaiian islands. Video phones for telling stories via hula???

I liked your illustration. Cool graphic style and colors.

Not sure about:
Is that the moon behind her head?

Why the outdoor furniture?

Cool.

I like the contrasts -- traditional leis and grass skirt with bubble helmet; volcanoes and flat terrain; very dark colors and very light.

*thumbs up*

I'm not sure about the intended theme of Hawaii 5000, my guess is it was a take off on Hawaii 5 - 0. But everyone else's entries that I've seen have been chicks in bathing suits and the like. I think I'm the only one to put a hula dancer in space so far.

I found the little picnic table grouping entertaining. I don't really know why. But in terms of stuff that hasn't already been mentioned. Where did that idea come from?

My first thought was "cops in space," myself. [Smile]

The picnic table grouping? You mean the super futuristic space city?

Cool, Annie! The hula dancer actually looks like she's cold.

I like the contrast between the photograph and the vector artwork.

Oh, and sorry for killing your thread.

Well, you'd be cold too at 2 Kelvins.

Sydney-to-Hawaii is ~4400 miles. The infamous Sydney-to-Hobart Yacht Race is 630 nautical miles.
So a straight Hobart-to-Hawaii has to be ~5000 miles.

Another yachting harbor is HongKong. ~5000 miles from Chinese junks to Hawaiian catamarans.
Though yacht races tend to be named for the finishline, the Olympics are notorious for attracting the yachting crowd. So Beijing 2008 could also be the destination.

There are other choices

Ooh - a poster with junks and hawaiian catamarans would be awesome. That's your assignment, aspectre.
