I'm not sure about the intended theme of Hawaii 5000, my guess is it was a take off on Hawaii 5 - 0. But everyone else's entries that I've seen have been chicks in bathing suits and the like. I think I'm the only one to put a hula dancer in space so far.

I found the little picnic table grouping entertaining. I don't really know why. But in terms of stuff that hasn't already been mentioned. Where did that idea come from?

Sydney-to-Hawaii is ~4400 miles. The infamous Sydney-to-Hobart Yacht Race is 630 nautical miles. So a straight Hobart-to-Hawaii has to be ~5000 miles.
Another yachting harbor is HongKong. ~5000 miles from Chinese junks to Hawaiian catamarans. Though yacht races tend to be named for the finishline, the Olympics are notorious for attracting the yachting crowd. So Beijing 2008 could also be the destination.
