Yeah I probably shouldn't be wasting hatrack's bandwith on this but I need this list somewhere where I will be able to access it from anywhere.
I'm leaving for vacation on Saturday. And Steve's mother is coming to visit while I'm gone. (She wasn't supposed to be but Steve was being Male and forgot that the dates conflicted)

So not only do I have to have my act together I have to have the house together before I leave to, though Steve will do basic cleaning while I'm gone. But folding the wash in the living room like I do, means that I need to get the underwear out of public view.

Okay, I'm lazy. I saw this thread and figured I'd post in here rather than finding your other thread to let you know that Tom will be out of town May 8th [Frown] I'm not sure what you arranged with CT, but I'm still up for company!

Good luck with your vacation/dog show traveling!

Hm...you are coming the 8th and not the 1st, right?

Well cool! [Smile]

We have a great dairy on campus (Babcocks) and a Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream on State St. State is always fun to wander around if you'd like.

I'm still pretty mobile. I'm a bit meandery and slow, but as long as I have a ready access to bathrooms and a water and snack supply I do pretty well. I actually find I do better when active, but have brief bouts where I need to sit down immediately.

We made it around the market last weekend successfully, so I don't think I'll have any trouble and *knock on wood* I've even been managing to get a bit of sleep now so I've been in a good mood.

AJ, let me add something to your list. I have a question for you:

How do you get a dog pee stain out of fabric that's been washed and bleached and still didn't come out? Marlowe peed on my white sofa cushion (of course) that is supposed to be scotch-guarded. Andrew had forgotten to put the gate up, so Marlowe was unsupervised downstairs. Andrew figured he'd take care of the situation and washed and bleached the cushion cover. I always thought that you aren't supposed to bleach pee stains? Is there anything I can do or do I have to get new cushions?

The best thing I have found to get pee stains out is the Kirby Pet and odor stain remover. You don't have to have a Kirby for it to work. Though I'm not sure what will have happened with the bleaching. Vinegar is always something to try. You see dog pee is basic, and sometimes adding something acidic helps. An oxy clean soak might work better than bleach and orange clean is pretty powerful stuff too.

Here's a nice handy little chart from Kirby. http://www.kirby.com/faqs-stain-removal.shtml

Here's the contact number to find a local retailer. http://www.kirby.com/parts.shtml

I'd also simply google "dog pee removal" and see what you come with that looks appealing to you. Natures Miracle that you can get at Petsmart isn't bad stuff either.

Mrs. M. You're not supposed to bleach pee stains, but I think that is mostly because it has an ammonia smell and the pet will return to that spot to urinate. You should still be able to get a pet enzymatic cleaner which should take out the stain. They should be available at most pet stores. We've also used Woolite pet stain remover for cat stains with moderate success.

Anna [Smile] Snacks are high on my list, and since I've been going through the dairy products like mad, ice cream is especially high on the list.

Steve painted the trim!!!!! [Kiss]

I IMed him this link on Monday so that he knew what I had to do between now and Saturday. I didn't ask for help with it. It was more of a "this is why I'm stressed out and crazed so don't get mad at me" kind of thing.

I was shocked when I came home yesterday!!!!

There is a reason why I keep him around after all [Big Grin]

*sigh* don't remind me. I miss the beach so much. (I grew up out in Southern CA)

On the other hand I guess I'm more productive here, because I don't while away hours at the beach. I mean there is one on Lake Michigan but it just isn't the same, and actually swimming in the water is kinda nasty. And it takes me an hour to drive there anyway.

Thanks for the advice, AJ and Christy. I tried the Woolite Pet Stain Remover (which I had handy) and it didn't work. It works great on carpets, though. I'll be at PetsMart this weekend for Marlowe's training class, so I'll pick up something then. I'll see what the trainer recommends.

AJ, it is so cool that Steve painted the trim for you! He's a keeper, that one.

yup aretee but you said in the other thread you were going to be in TX.

doggy tangent/
Mrs. M while I shop at Petsmart I have to admit that I'm not a supporter of their training classes. But I guess it is probably a form of snobbery. I suspect you will get much better training and training advice from your local Dog Training Club. The years of experience found at the local club, as well as the genuine passion for dogs generally dwarfs the knowledge of your Pet Smart instructor, kind and passionate though they may be.

Thanks, jeniwren. Andrew came up with it. I thought he was thinking of Christopher Marlowe, but (I kid you not), he just wanted a name that ended with lowe. When I asked him why, the professor said, "I don't know." [Roll Eyes]

AJ, ordinarily I'd agree with you, but our instructor is very knowledgeable. He does dog show training in addition to the basic class we're in. Marlowe is doing really well and we're even using some of the techniques with Reggie. I've heard bad things about PetsMart training, but the rescue agency where we got Marlowe recommended this guy specifically. I suspect he'll go into business for himself someday.

Yeah, but I was wondering what you were going to see while you were there. Don't know how often you go there and I know a great Ethiopian resturant. I miss my hometown and I'm envious of people who get to go there.

[Smile] ok Mrs. M. I believe you. It just when I've been in stores when training sessions are going on I've been generally appalled by many of them.

I guess to turn it around, there are always some good apples in every barrel too.

Yes, Because of this thread the contract for Kama Con just got faxed!

Well, we had an excellent time and Anna Jo had success at the dog show in Madison.

Sierra got a green ribbon in her obedience showing, passing with flying colors despite a bit of confusion/distraction during a turn around.

Jake won best of breed (woo-hoo!) and we've heard did well in Best of Show this evening before Anna started her trek down to St. Louis. He was clearly the best dog there, and we were shocked that he had been passed up yesterday by the blue.

Paging Dan_Raven, paging Dan_Raven, Anna will be giving you guys a call to hang out and/or catch a bite of dinner. (Not tonight, though, as she'll be getting in quite late)

For CT, Tom and I, going to the dog show was a great experience because none of us had ever been to one and it was very exciting to go when you knew someone in the show. We were amazed by the row-upon-row of primping stations equipped with baths, hairdryers, brushes, vacuums and the like. We were impressed at how well behaved most of the dogs were, especially in such proximity to so many dogs! It was neat to watch the different breeds and really cool to see the obedience training where we could follow a bit more what actually was happening since we didn't quite know what to look for in good breed qualities, although Anna Jo was great at explaining. Now we know first-hand what she is talking about! [Smile]

Hopefully Anna Jo will have a safe drive down to St. Louis and will have success in her shows down there, too! Good luck!
