Government is definitely more worthless in the long run. They can deny they did anything wrong (OK, they WILL deny they did anything wrong), hire really good lawyers with all your tax money, then pass a law so the same clash doesn't occur again. Hypothetically speaking. [Monkeys]

I don't know...

Depends on which one comes with a generous cash settlement.

When it comes to apologies, nothing says "I'm sorry" like cash.

That, and long, harsh prison terms. [Razz]

What I think is silly is people, particularly press, who demand apologies from politicians and corporations, and then read much meaning into it if the powerful entity in question ignores them.

Agreed. It's like when a parent foced his child to apologize to another child. You can never trus a forced apology.

I dunno. I think apologies are pretty nice given the climate of swaggering, sniggering and smirking cynicism we've been living in.

I still like my politicians accountable to the people they are supposed to serve, whose confidence they have requested.

Irami,

I agree with you. I'd add that I'd like my elected officials to be accountable all the time, not just in heated moments of reputation crisis when they are cornered.
