KRT Wire is carrying the story of how alleged dirty bomb plotter Jose Padilla got to see his lawyers for the first time in March, after a couple of years of detention with no charge.
I know this topic has kinda been done to death, but in the lead-up to the presidential elections I think it's appropriate to say that even if I was Bush's secret long-term gay lover I'd want him the hell out of office as fast as humanely possible over this alone.
I mean, this is one of your fundamental rights and it's just blithely being suspended on the mere suspicion of wrong-doing. How can any of the Bush supporters on this board even think to condone his continued stay in power when stuff like this is going on?
I'm genuinely interested, I just can't fathom it.

Bizarrely enough I was continuing my daily lunch-time surf, not even looking for this sort of thing and came across more about the whole prison abuse stuff - but not in Iraq. This was happening to Muslims in the US who were rounded up as part of the post 9/11 grab of anyone who *might* have been a terrorist because their skin was the wrong colour.
So really we now have a thread that's about TWO done-to-death topics. The Guv'mint taking away your rights and prison abuse. All in one thread. I think I need to be congratulated.

We need to find a root cause for all these problems -- the long delays in the Ender's Game movie is my proposal.
