I can't find any information about Shadow Of The Giant anywhere! It showed up on Chapters.ca (Simular to Amazon.com, but Canadian) when I did a search for books by OSC.

They have two hardcover versions. One's set to relase January 2050 ( [Confused] Yes, over 45 years from now; must be a typo) and is $35.95 (A resonable price, for a hardcover.

The other is relased March 2005 but it is $280 ( [Eek!] I have never seen a single book that expensive, probally another typo [Roll Eyes] ).

Both tell me it's published by Tor (As all of them are), and is 384 Pages long. Other than that, I can't find anything else about it [Mad] . Has anyone else had any luck in finding anything?

$35.95 is reasonable for a hardcover? Maybe in 2050 it will be . . .

Welcome, btw. When the book comes out, this is where you will be able to find out all about it.

Best wishes,
Joe

$35.95 in Canadian dollars, I assume, which is $27-something in U.S. dollars. Still not that cheap...

He hasn't finished writing it yet, but said he still might make it for the March '05 drop date.

The other version is probably the limited-edition signed leatherbound version that has been made available for a number of his books. I've never purchased one, or in fact seen one, but they've been listed for a number of his novels. They run $200 U.S., so the price sounds about right.

Welcome to Hatrack!

Pop, you didn't even get one of those for Crystal City? I thought you said the book was all about you.

Actually, OSC should have given Papa Moose one of those signed leather editions of Crystal City! After all, he was such an important part in the forming of certain central characters! [Wink]

I was incredibly honored to be in the book, and expected nothing from our gracious host. He was kind enough to send me a complimentary copy of the book, for which I was and am thankful, and the material from which the cover was made wouldn't make any difference in its value to me. And the thought that he "should" have given me something didn't occur to me until after someone else suggested it (someone suggested it for Shadow Puppets, too), and even then it wasn't something I felt was due.

However, that also means that I wouldn't have, you know, thrown the book out if it had been leatherbound or anything.... *smile*

Thanks for the help!

Yes, the price is pushing the expensive end, but hardcover books are getting expensive, since many wait until the cheaper paperbacks come out. Some of my local bookstores rairly have the ones I want in HC, but do have them in PB.

Usually, when they show up, if you look for it, you can find details on it.

I guess I'm pampered, I have several authors that post atleast a chapter 4 to 6 months before it's released. I have one author that posts her contracts (Currently, into 2012 [Smile] )

This is a possibility, but it could also be an error in entering it. For example, the store could be paying $280 for their first shipment of the book. I worked at Barnes & Noble for a while, and crazy things like that frequently happen for books that come out many months in the future.

Wolf, would that possibly be Tamora Pierce? I know it's a long shot, but I'm not sure how many authors there are who would fit that description.
