But I guess some other people don't:

Am I the only person out there that hates those stupid GEICO commercials? Everytime I turn on the the tv they are there (and I don't watch much tv either)! Do these people think they are cute or funny? When I looked for auto insurance a few months ago, I deliberately avoided GEICO because of this. Effective advertising is one thing, but overkill is another.

quote:
You are not alone. I think these commercials are aimed directly at the low-life, sub-par I.Q. idiots that drive without insurance or regard for other's safety , simply because they would rather spend their money on drugs than insure the hooptys they drive around in. You know the ones I mean ....the little foreign ****-box with gold plated wheels and the exhaust tip that's as big as a canned ham? I universally loathe these types.
quote:
Geico, schmieco. I love/hate Geico commercials because they have dead deer/squirrel. Silverback likes them too, canned ham. How about the one with the dogs whistling?? DAWG, GET YOUR HEAD BACK IN THE CAR!! Bad dog. I want a lizard, to pet. Pretty little lizard, will you be mine? Please insure me, ******* please insure me, oh god that insurance hurts it's so good. Is there anybody out there?

On the plus side, if this is what they're complaining about they must have pretty good lives otherwise.

Don't know if I've ever seen these GEICO commercials.

However, I do have GEICO insurance on my autos. I have been happy with them.

Well, I don't watch much TV..

I have seen some GEICO commercials in the past, but I don't recall any of the ones talked about in that link (dog whistling, squirrel, etc.) So I guess I haven't seen any recent commercials.

It's summer. I'm too busy mowing.

I just remembr the one about the funeral, the one about the Award, and the one about the Soap Opera. They were only kindda funny, not enough for me to call them hilarius, but funny enough to get the messege through.

And a sheepdog Farmgirl to take care of the sheep for you, then you will have the total low mainenance package...

I like AFLAC commercials far better than the Geico ones. The duck does something for me the lizard doesn't.

The only GEICO commercials I like are the squirrel one (which is relatively old) and the recent one with the family in the mini-van where the gecko breaks out singing, "everbody was kung-fu fighting..."

The gecko is definitely getting old, though. It's probably time to retire him and find a new mascot.

Gecko's live 10-15 years! He's just an infant now, hopefully we will see MORE of him as time progresses.

I like the Geico and AFLAC commercials. The commercials that I hated were from Quiznos with the deformed freaky hamsters. They haven't been running those for awhile, thank goodness. I would have to change the channel if my 8-year-old daughter Cayla was in the room because she got freaked out.

When she was little, she hated the Plug-its commercials. When they started singing, "plug it in, plug it in," she would yell at the TV, "No, you plug it in!" She's a funny kid sometimes.

Another commercial series that I like involving animals is the Happy Cows in California. [Wink]

What I truly dislike are the Progressive commercials that claim they will give you rates of 4 of their "leading competitors." These leading competitors have turned out all 4 times I have bothered checking my quote with Progressive to be companies I have never heard of and that might not even exist.

Heres the convo when I called Geiko about two years ago.

"We can't insure you"

"You CAN'T?"

"Thats correct sir"

"Jeez, I didn't even know you COULD just flat out turn someone down"

"Well we can insure you, but you'd need to be making 6 figures to afford it"

"Thanks, I will never use your company for the 50 expected years left in my life expectancy"

That last thing I was mostly thinking though [Grumble] .

I have often times wondered *why* they keep making commercials like the stupid ones for Geiko, Aflak, Blockbuster, etc..

I never really considered that there are people out there that *like* them.

Now I know.

odd. I don't mind the geico ones, but the Aflak and Blockbuster ones seem insipid. *shrugs* no accounting for taste.

the ones that make my blood boil with aesthetically offensed fury are the Carls' Junior ones.

Commercials that I like....

I like those Guiness "Briliant!" commercials.
I like those obnoxious Quizno's sub commercials with the singing lemurs.

That's all I can come up with right now.

I have to say that a lot of ads annoy me enough to actually *decrease* the probablity of me being a customer.

Old Navy is a perfect example of the annoying commercials. Mostly because of the commercials, I have never set foot inside one. I figure that whatever they are selling, I am *obviously* not a member of their target audience.

My parents have had Geico insurance for over 20 years -- and I don't think they have ever had a problem. Moreover, back when I was on their insurance, and was in an accident with an idiot who exaggerated an injury, Geico's lawyer was excellent.

Almost every single one of those commercials are stupid, and have no humor in them at all. The only one I think is sort of funny (I mean in a eye-rolling sort of way that doesn't make you smile greater than a smirk) is the one where he's behind the seatbelt with the sunglasses and nodding his head to the music.

But if you think any of these are hilarious, I think there is something mentally wrong with you, or you are far to easily amused. [Razz]

Geico commercials are the cross we must bear for Cheap Computer Animation.

For every Shrek their is a Geico gecko. For every Gollum there is a Scooby Do. For every Dobbie there are two squirrels high fiving each other over a car wreck.

Ha, on a related note... The Quizno Hamster things are back with a new commercial. I have no idea what they were singing about (I was in another room and couldn't read the commercial.

And I prefer the Quizno things to anything that Geico has done. Not sure why, the lizard just begs to be pulled by its tail, or have a dog attack it or something...
