I am also in Dallas. Thor is, I think, in Houston. Bob Scopatz is roughly equidistant from both in (IIRC) College Station.

I'm in Amarillo--at least for the next few months. I don't have regular computer acess for now, so I don't know how much good this reply will do.

I'm closer to Houston, but Dallas isn't a huge distance. If I'm in town at that time, I wouldn't mind hosting a get together, or driving to either Dallas or Houston. Whatever.

I'm in Oklahoma City, but I would be stoked for a Dallas get together. Man. I don't think I've used the word stoked for ten years.

pH, I am just realizing that I probably won't be able to attend any Dallas gathering. If you choose to come up this way and want to meet me, e-mail me and we'll talk. If not, have a great trip and enjoy the get-together.

Although I'm a lurker, I'd love to meet any (and all) of y'all. Depending on when your hypothetical trip is, I might be able to make it - I'll be moving to Austin in early August.

So was I the only person who thought, after seeing the author and the title of the post, that this was another "how do I avoid the draft" topics?

I am probably the newest member of the board and live in El Paso. Amarillo, San Antonio, Austin, the lower Rio Grande Valley, and Corpus Christi are great places. Avoid Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, and El Paso. Midland/Odessa/Abilene/San Angelo is boring. I was raised in El Paso and served my mission in San Antonio, so the only time I had to leave Zion was the time I served in Provo in the MTC!

Well, I have a friend who's at Ft. Hood, and apparently the easiest way to get there is through Dallas? The route looks all windy and out-of-the way, but that's what Yahoo! maps says...
