I think I'm posting too many threads... Oh well...
Anwyaws, I haven't read The Iliad or seen Troy, and I don't know much about Achilles, just the little bit I've picked up from reading threads here on hatrack. I was just wondering, is the Achilles from the Iliad similar to the Achilles in the Bean series??? I think something was mentioned about their similiarities in one of the books, but I don't remember.

Achilles from Troy - the movie - is nowhere near the one from the Shadow series. While he's a very skilled warrior, he's not the "kill'em all" type. And he has soft spots too, he has Patroclus whom he loves enough to seek a wild vengeance, or Briseis whom... Err... Nevermind He has many other qualities too, but I'll let you see the movie and decide for yourself.
And don't worry about posting too many threads. If they're ignored, THEN start to worry ! If you just happen to find topics that haven't been discussed and you want to talk about them, feel free to start a thread for it. If they're interesting enough, someone will pick up the challenge.

the main similarity is the weekness in the leg I think. Since Achilles (in the Illiad but not really in the movie Troy) dies from being shot in the foot, and Achilles in the shadow series had a bad leg, at least at the start.
I could be wrong, but I think that is the origin of the name.
