I just saw a commercial for Starship Troopers 2 on DVD. Did this ever make it to the theaters, or is this going to be a really bad, low budget, straight to TV, bomb?

Just saw it (ah, the perks of working at a video store). Straight to video. And yes, it's a really bad, low budget bomb with a "twist" that was obvious literally three seconds into the introduction of a few characters. On the bright side it have one great darkly humorous scene. The commentary by (first time) director Phil Tippett (an Academy Award winning sfx man), screenwriter Ed Neumeier (who wrote the first film and the original Robocop) and producer Jon Davison (also the original film and Robocop as well as Airplane and Top Secret) is actually much more amusing and enjoyable than the film itself.
And yes, I need to get a life...

Starship Troopers (1) the movie depicted every military cliche known to humankind, from crappy chow hall food to drunken tattoos to the animosity between pilots and grunts. That made it immensely funny, despite the fact that I was very sad that it bore little to no resemblance to Heinlien's (sp?) book, which I also enjoyed quite a bit.
I've never seen the sequal. Nor do I intend to, except by accident.
