Yup an honest to god one.

http://home.comcast.net/~sjonesce/

click on LowRyder Cardigan Corgis (the other half is going to be for a friend of mine)
I'll work on a good domain name later, right now I'm just trying to get it up and debugged.

It is mainly geared towards my dogs, because I have people wanting to know who they are and what they look like. Jexx helped proofread stuff, which I appreciate. If you see any egregious typos let me know.

I'll eventually get "before" and "after" house pics up on a "personal" link.

Not all of the links work right now, and it needs some refining, but I think it is a good start. Steve helped me with the basics, but I did a lot of it myself.

I still need to figure out how to "name" pages in dream weaver so it doesn't say "untitled" at the top of everything. I need to tweak the layout a bit in spots but I don't think it is too bad for a first attempt!

Comments and feedback are welcome.

AJ

It looks nice so far! The low-rider logo is very cute, by the way. Can't wait to see more.

Hey, cool! Congrats on entering the world of [scary voice]web desiiiign![/scary voice]

You can name a page simply by entering the title in the little text field at the top of the Dreamweaver windows.

If you want to, you could register a top-level name for your site for less than $20/year. Like www.lowrydercorgis.com or something.

Looks great, AJ. I love all the pictures and info about your dogs and showing them, especially since you have been telling me so much about them recently. [Smile]

I'm going to figure out the domain name at a later date. I'd like to leave mine and the Kingsbury website linked once I get the Kingsbury site running so I need some sort of neutral one involving both names.

The reason is because Kingsbury is one of the most prestigious kennels in the country so it benefits me to have them linked, and I figure it is fair payment for my time if I actually do get a website going for her that looks halfway decent.

I was trying to add the title names on dreamweaver last night but in my late night delirious stupor I think I forgot to hit save before I uploaded.

No, I think I would be in fear of my life, from Steve if I did. You should have heard him rant and rave about how embedded webpage sound is the bane of the internet's existence. I think he would advocate mouse finger amputation for anyone who puts it on their site...

Expanding on Ayelar's suggestion of registering a domain name, try using Godaddy.com. The www.lowrydercorgis.com is indeed available. Their cost is usually $8.95 a year for .com addresses, but they are having a sale for $7.95 a year. I know. It's just a dollar savings, but it's a nice price just the same.

Nice site. You are right about the sound. Very annoying even when you are giving the capability of turning the sound off. Would have liked to have seen the dancing pink elephants though. [Big Grin]

Oh... and just in case you haven't gotten to this just yet. What Dreamweaver version do you have? I have 4.0 and the title area is under Modify>Page Properties. Or, you could switch to the code mode and type in between the header area:
quote:
<title>Your Title Here</title>
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see more.

as I said before, I believe its there, and I think I May have even found the "title" info last night arround midnight thanks to some help from sosento. I just don't think I saved and uploaded it correctly given my bleary eyed deliriousness.

I'm trying to figure out what to do for my friend's site. I have all the content, but I want to give it a slightly different "feel" than my own page. I guess I can just change the background color and the font and font colors but I don't know if that will be enough.

Any ideas?

Btw does any of the heading font look Galeic to anyone's eyes? Because it seems to have defaulted to something else like times new roman on my work computer.

Yeah, the heading font is just a default font for me. Most people don't have a font called "Gaelic" installed, so most people won't be able to see it in that font. You're pretty much limited to fonts that come installed on all computers, like Times and Verdana. There are a couple you can usually get away with, like Comic Sans, but if you want a really wacky font you have to put it in an image.

honestly the gallic while looking cool, was kinda hard to read in spots. My address which I did as a picture file is that font. I think I might redo the header though.

In general, Anna, you want to stick to a core group of six or seven common fonts. If there's something you need in a fancy font (like a header), you'll want to put it in an image.

yeah Tom, I'm figuring that out the hard way <grin>

I've got a question on domain names. I'm reading the godaddy site and it doesn't entirely make sense. I've never done this before.

say I register cardigancorgis.net

Do I then also have to register the subdomains of
lowryder.cardigancorgis.net
and kingsbury.cardigancorgis.net if I wanted it to be that specific or
or is it better to just do cardigancorgis.net/kingsbury
and cardigancorgis.net/lowryder?

In general, for a site as simple as yours, I'd go with www.cardigans.com/subdirectory.

Thanks Tom that makes sense. Now I'm just trying to figure out what I want as a domain name. Maybe my friend, Jacque, will have some ideas. Though she wasn't the most original in naming her kennel to begin with so I have my doubts. (She named it after the street she was living on at the time)<grin>
