We will be up in Oregon (Salem area) from about June 29-July 6th. We would love to meet any local Hatrackers while up there! That's not terribly far from Washington either. Two possible times would be: June 29th-30th or July 5-6th. Anyone game? And which time is better? We need to plan somewhat early, because it sounds like one of those time periods we might be staying at a lovely beach house with my parents. [Wink]

Come to Seattle! I would love to meet you, but trips to Oregon to meet people from the internet never work out for me.

*bump*

This trip is coming up pretty quickly, so I thought I had better revive this thread. Romanylass, I'm not sure if we will be able to make it as far north as Seattle. We might be able to make a trip to the southern part of WA though, we will have to see about that.

It seems that most people won't be able to make such a trip. [Frown] I thought I would make a "last call" though.

We will have many opportunities to go up there in the future, since almost all of my family is up in Oregon/southern Washington.

I'm interested, and I think I can come. Are those weekends by any chance (I'd rather not skip work)? Where exactly will you be staying, in Salem? I live in Corvallis.

Got any ideas for activities, or is this strictly a "hanging-out" sort of day?

Stop in Boise, the Gateway to the Pacific Northwest, and we can grab some lunch. [Smile]

Shigoshi, we will be staying just outside of Salem. At least, I think that Salem is the closest "town" to where my parents live. From what I understand, Corvallis isn't too far away from there. What would you think of meeting up on Tuesday July 6th? Porter and I may be leaving the kids with my parents that day to have some "free time". We plan on taking a trip up to Portland that evening, but maybe we could catch lunch or something? Since I don't know the area very well, feel free to recommend a meeting place.

Frisco, I think our path takes us right through Boise. I think we would be passing through pretty near lunch time on the way in, perhaps a bit later in the day on the way back home. We come through the first time Monday June 28, then back through July 7th. Do either of those days work for you?

The earliest I'd have to work is 1pm on Mondays, so it depends on when you swing through. On Wednesdays (the 7th) I'm usually off. Drop me an email when you know exactly what time you'll be through on the 28th. [Smile]

I am going to run that by dh ( he is always afraid the people on MB's are really 50 year old pervs who want to rape and kill the kids and I, so gets nervous if I go to far afield to meet someone from the net.)

Yeah, I think Tacoma might be a bit out-of-the-way for us. If we tried to meet both you and Shigosei at the same time/place, would that help him feel any better? We would like to meet you too. [Smile]

On the way in is (unfortunately) going to be effected by if we stop overnight in Pocatello Idaho to visit some friends the Sunday night before. If we do stop there, it will be easier to reach Boise at an early hour, because we will be starting out Monday morning from a closer location.

On the other hand, if we are headed out from our doorstep Monday morning (not stopping at Pocatello) we can leave "whenever we want" and have more control over what time we arrive.

I pretty sure we can manage to be there early enough (before 1pm) either way, but hopefully in the next little while I will know for sure whether or not the Pocatello thing is happening and make a more fixed plan. If we are coming from our place, the drive is an estimated 6 hours, so we will need to be sure to leave pretty early in the morning. Not a bad thing, it means reaching our destination sooner. [Smile]

One good thing, we will have a cell phone with us to make getting together easier on everyone.
