Has anyone else here been listening to her music?
Vienna Teng is a singer/pianist, and very good at both. A friend of mine introduced me to her music a while ago, and I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop for the past week. She's been playing piano since somewhere around the age of 5, and started coming up with her own stuff not long after that. She graduated from Stanford with a computer science degree back in 2000, and worked as a software engineer at Cisco for two years before releasing her first album (Waking Hour).
Anyway, the songs are just gorgeous, and I encourage anyone who might be even remotely interested to check out the samples on her site. The samples are good quality MP3s of complete songs, and well worth listening to.

I have heard of her! She had a great song I heard on a women's music show... Can't remember what it was called though, but it was quite nice... Also check out Train Song by Eliza McCarthy which has nothing to do with this, I just want someone to tell me what it's about!

She's my FAVORITE! Both Waking Hour and Warm Strangers (her second album) are incredible. It's rare to find an artist that can play and write lyrics so beautifully. Thanks for starting this thread! More people really should check her out.

Whew! I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I just picked up my very own copy of Warm Strangers today; Waking Hour is sadly proving harder to find. Guess I'll have to try Borders tomorrow....
Heather, you may be interested to read the reviews my friend wrote for the two albums: Waking Hour and Warm Strangers. Don't worry, these aren't fanboyish; his reviews are always in-depth and thought-out, and he's written nearly three hundred of them.

Bek - read the reviews! I liked that in his review of Waking Hour, he shared stories that she had told about her songs when he saw her live. She's been to my town twice since I discovered her, and sadly, I missed her both times. I check her website periodically so I don't miss the next show. I'm actually surprised that more people haven't heard about her. It's been about a year and a half since she was on Letterman.
Hope you found Waking Hour! I would think Borders would have it...
