As a lot of people, I’m a simsaholic… Even if I become bored by the original game, ‘cause when your family is out of trouble, well, it doesn’t change a lot, even with the extensions. So I’m very impatient to play to The Sims 2, where your sims will grow up and have children that will themselves grow up while they will grow old and finally die. The release date is September the 17th in America. Point is, I don’t want to buy the French version of the game because you always have to wait longer for the updates and my English is good enough for me to play in English. So here is my question : do you know any website that would sell products and send them in France ? I tried to pre-order the game on amazon.com but it didn’t work, because of the country I think. Could you give me an advice ? By the way, if you want to talk about the game, feel free to do it

I love the sims too. But my copy of Livin' Large broke so now I need a new one and I don't want to pay 30 bucks for one. Your best bet might be Ebay, Half.com or getting someone to send it to you. Do you have a system that can play US games?

If you get Unleashed or Makin'Magic, you can run the game with that CD. I don't know about the other expansion packs, but I do know it works with those.

Now I have another question : I tried to order it on amazon.co.uk and found out it was possible. Do you think the English and American version would be the same ? (I'm still thinking about updates, patches etc)

Maybe. I seem to remember that you could patches for other games from many different locations, I'm sure britain was one of them. Not quite certain if that means anything useful to you, though.
I was interested in the Sims at first, but eventually it became like taking care of a very stupid baby, having to tell them when to go to the bathroom and eat and go to sleep and whatnot.
I remember one friend of mine made a shack that was just 3x3, and all he did was put a TV, a chair, and a phone in there. He sat his Sim down and just ordered pizze everyone in a while.
Eventually he died of discomfort.

I didn't even know they could die from discomfort. I try very hard not to kill any of my sims, but it is fun to make them hate each other and fight.

The Sims 2 will definitely be a PC-only product. There is a sequel coming out for the console Sims games, called The Urbz, in which you're a hip urban Sim trying to build up credibility with various urban social groups. Very different kind of game.
I've never tried to order foreign editions of games, so I won't be much help there. However, I do know that different versions of games are usually separated by language, not by country. England, the U.S., and Australia get the same version, at least on the developer's end. Different boxes, maybe, same software.

Um, as far as I know (not sure though), the American patches were compatible with bro's Polish version.

OK, I asked the question on a forum dedicated to the sims and it appears that the patches etc are the same no matter the language, so a wrong problem ! I remember having it with Heroes IV, that's why I wanted to avoid it with the Sims 2. Anyway, again thanks everybody !

If you cut out all the packaging and such that comes with the retail version and just ship the CD, the shipping shouldn't be too bad- even to France.
How can I put this... I can play French games on my computer. I have a French version of Halo that I play a lot because I really don't care what the menus say, I just play the game. Don't ask me how I got it. I'll leave it up to your imagination.
