I like the first one very much. It's soothing while still being visually interesting at the same time. My mind doesn't know what to make of the second one, so I see it as more abstract.
The first one would be very cool if you could slightly animate it, like a crystal ringing from a small vibration.

I just meant, if you expand on Tel's idea that it's crystalline, imagine how it would look if it was struck lightly with a hammer, so it rung and vibrated like a tuning fork.
I have no idea how one would do this, but it would look cool.

they're both extremely nice. the symmetries are excellent and i like the evocative metropolitan shattered-glass action-flick look of the second one. have you tried to do anything organic-looking?
I'm not any good at that stuff, but you really want to get some good opinions on your stuff, try putting it up at Deviant Art.

I believe what happened to the Photoshop Fridays is that Annie got one of those "life" things and was unable to commit her time any longer.

I'm wondering if you can pull the top bit foreward, and emphasize the hint of a bowl/funnel shape at the bottom? make the curvature of the lines draw the eyes along the surface? 3D

I could reinstate photoshop phriday if I get some promised participation... those last couple went entry-less.
