Very cool!

Hey -- whatever happened to our 'Photoshop Phriday" competitions you all used to have here on Hatrack? I loved looking at the images.

Very beautifu.

The first one is a beautiful crystal logo...very handsom. I like the hexagons on the top and bottom too.

The second one feels like you're being pulled in... great effect.

I like the first one very much. It's soothing while still being visually interesting at the same time. My mind doesn't know what to make of the second one, so I see it as more abstract.

The first one would be very cool if you could slightly animate it, like a crystal ringing from a small vibration.

Are you a graphics design major?

Im not sure what you mean.

I just meant, if you expand on Tel's idea that it's crystalline, imagine how it would look if it was struck lightly with a hammer, so it rung and vibrated like a tuning fork.

I have no idea how one would do this, but it would look cool. [Cool]

Of course, it looks cool now, too.

they're both extremely nice. the symmetries are excellent and i like the evocative metropolitan shattered-glass action-flick look of the second one. have you tried to do anything organic-looking?

I think they're both very cool. [Smile]

I'm not any good at that stuff, but you really want to get some good opinions on your stuff, try putting it up at Deviant Art. [Smile]

I believe what happened to the Photoshop Fridays is that Annie got one of those "life" things and was unable to commit her time any longer.

k,

it's a bit intense. can you make the figurative bits friendlier somehow?

fallow

PS. It kicks the ass out of the ones I saw before.

edit: postkicking

I could lower the opacity..dulling the effects. Maybe I'll try that out tomorrow.

k,

It just needs a bit of dimensionality, I think. A horizon-line might work, if it's not too harsh.

I really enjoyed it. thank you for sharing that.

fallow

PS. it is beautiful. engaging and evocative. precision and symmetry. looks like water-waves cresting/interfering under moonlight. incredible!

Every time I think of this thread, I flash on Carl Reiner's short subject on SNL.

well, it's different.

I'm wondering if you can pull the top bit foreward, and emphasize the hint of a bowl/funnel shape at the bottom? make the curvature of the lines draw the eyes along the surface? 3D
