It's basically every album that has sold more than 10 million copies. How trendy are you? Which ones do you own?
These are mine: 33. Simon & Garfunkel: Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits 34. Metallica: Metallica 46. Matchbox 20: Yourself or Someone Like 54. Pearl Jam: Ten 60. Creed: Human Clay 66. U2: Joshua Tree 72. Green Day: Dookie

In the top 40, I have had, or currently have 12 of them. I'm not admitting which ones, either.

There are others on there I own, or have at some point owned, but I can say for sure that all of the ones by Garth Brooks, I own or have owned. I'll go through more carefully later to see which others I can claim ownership of, and hopefully redeem myself some infront of the noncountry fans.

I, personally, only own Sgt Pepper's and Nevermind. My family as a whole, however, have at least 3/4 of those, mainly on tape.

My list, in a confused order, of albums I have or have had:
Whitney Houston & Various Artists: The Bodyguard Alanis Morissette : Jagged Little Pill Simon & Garfunkel: Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits Various Artists: Dirty Dancing 55. Pieces of You, Jewel 53. TLC: CrazySexyCool 77. Tragic Kingdom, No Doubt Madonna: The Immaculate Collection
I no longer have Dirty Dancing because it was destroyed, and I gave the Jewel CD away.
Of the ones that are left, I only listen to Simon and Garfunkel, TLC, and Madonna.
My music tastes are not snobbish, like yours. I like almost everything but country and rap/R&B.
Basically, that leaves alternative, rock, punk, and nearly everything on that line. I'm not a big fan of emo though.

7. Shania Twain:Come on Over 9. The Beatles: The Beatles [White Album] 23. The Beatles: 1962-66 43. Shania Twain: The Woman In Me 44. The Beatles: Abbey Road 51. James Taylor: James Taylor's Greatest Hits 52. The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Have owned in the past:
1. Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 5. Billy Joel: Greatest Hits Volume I & II 16. Elton John: Greatest Hits 17. The Beatles: 1967-70 29. Prince & the Revolution: Purple Rain 33. Simon & Garfunkel: Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits 45. Phil Collins: No Jacket Required 64. Best of the Doobies, Doobie Brothers
There could be more current ones, but I don't know what all country CDs Mama has. There might have been more that I would have or would still own, but my older brother already had them so I could listen to them at will. I don't know all the titles of the albums -- just the songs. And there were a lot. And some of the "Have owned in the past" ones are things I tired of, and some are CDs that were stolen out of my broken-into car. (Though the majority of the CDs that were stolen that time were Christian praise & worship CDs -- kinda hope they did some good.)

Three of the four were in the ones that were stolen. The other (Purple Rain) I have no idea what happened to it. For all I know, it could still be somewhere in this house. I just looked through where all the tapes (yes, I bought the cassette through RCA so many years ago) should be, and it wasn't there. I know I had it when I was in college, but between '91 and '04 something happened to it.

Yeah, that's what happened to my "Aa, Megami-sama" soundtrack. It disappeared....I think I may have left it in a U-haul.

Annie- I sold my Ace of Base CD when I was a teenager. I few months back I got nostalgic and bought an old, used copy. I was so excited to hear it, and relive all those goofy old songs.
Once was enough.
By the way, if anyone wants a used Ace of Base CD, mine is up for grabs.

I had 28. Not going to write them all down, though. Also, I did it as if I still ahd all the albums. Some have been lost. So I did what we have or used to have.
Give me a break, I'm an old fart.

Unlike you, however, I do enjoy artists from hip-hop/R&B and country.
I would say that you are snobbish about your taste in music, however, since it is most likely based upon image. I can't see any reason to dismiss an entire genre of music except that people you don't like enjoy it or you're worried someone who also likes Creed will notice your Montgomery Gentry CD and rip on you for it.
You can sit and defend yourself by saying it's taste, but that's just a shallow lie. Trust me, if it does amount to taste, you just haven't heard enough from any of those genres to form any concrete opinion on the subject.
My suggestion: listen to more music. Ask people you respect what they listen to from those genres, and pick up a record from the library to see if you like it. It's no-risk (unless you're late in returning it).

I own none of them, unless the Homestarrunner.com Strong Bad CD is present on the list. 'Cuz that's the only CD I own. And no, I don't download music, either. My friends all think I am completely insane because I don't listen to music...

MPH, aren't you close to my age? Ace of Base HAD to be when we were teenagers, because Summer Allen (so named because the summer between sophomore and junior years he shot up six inches and gained about thirty pounds of muscle and turned from a baby-faced geek to a gorgeous...geek) was broken up with by his debate partner/girlfriend by her playing "I saw the sign" to him and saying "Get the picture."
That is DEFINITELY teenager behavior. Back in the days when drama was still new enough to be thrilling. *reminisces*

Ace of Base's Sign was 1993. So for me (and mph) only just barely teens. We're in a different decade than you are, kat.

Nick, I have to agree with you. There are genre's that I just plain don't care for. Opera, Classical, Rap just don't do it for me. There are a few exceptions to the rule but as groups I'm not enamored of them.

I have 35 of the top 100 listed here. What is frightening is that I own at least one of them on 8-track!

The Sign is definitely a junior high phenomenon for me. Sixth and seventh grade were when I was most aware of the popular music and least apt to buy it. I liked to wear my Garth t-shirts with pride and to spite all my friends who were listening to Nirvana, Blind Melon, and Salt N Peppa. Hee hee hee.

I was certain that I wouldn't own any of the albums on that list. I was almost right, too. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I do own exactly one of those albums.

Two of some of the above.
We're a music lovin family. When my husband and I merged our collections we were surprised to find out that we had very few of the same cds. If you have 400 cd's and only 14 are duplicates that's pretty good.
There are some on this list that my husband barely acknowledges. He's a bit more of an old rock classic snob. Most of the classic albums were his.
