<laughs> I expect she did. But MY mom had a major crush on him back when he was young. Even she admitted later, though, that daddy kept his figure better as they aged. <laughs>

It's weird but Marlon Brando reminds me of my father, those old pictures do. They remind me of my dad's pictures from the same era. I wonder now if Mama only liked him because he reminded her of Marlon. [Razz]

The only actors that come close for me are Paul Newman and James Stewart. Paul Newman mostly as a young guy, like when he played in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with Elizabeth Taylor. Yowza! Actually, I vaguely remember that Brando was also thought of for th part.

James Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life." When he is at the bottom of the stairs, and kisses Mary. he is a BAD boy in that moment, and still totally good overall.

"An actor's a guy who, if you ain't talking about him, ain't listening."

Oh yeah - Jimmy Stewart. Jimmy Stewart's adorable.

That last picture I have hanging on my wall. I'm feeling about sixteen years old. There's still one more picture that I saw once that I want to like to, but I can't find it. Same era. Holy moley.

Yeah, I have to admit that he's hot. And I too adore Jimmy Stewart.

But Mmmmmm. Paul Newman.

I'm also a fan of Henry Fonda....like 12 angry Men days. [Smile]

Oh. But Gregory Peck TAKES it all away from all of those guys. *sigh*

Rather than making me feel like my manhood is being threatened those pictures make me want to bear Brando's children. Hey wait...

Oh well, it's not as if I like *Josh Groban* or something.

Yeah, that's what my husband always says too.

I mean...

Well, yeah! That IS what I mean! Even the dudes have to admit Gregory Peck is sexy!

I think dudes think Marlon Brando is way sexier than Gregory Peck. Or they should, anyway.

Nah. Gregory Peck is better because he's a better GUY. Peck is the guy you know will raise your kids after you die, AND he'll teach them to respect people of different colors, old ladies, and weird recluses that live next-door.

Oh, that's the part where things never change. I don't get hopeless crushes on husband-like guys. I get crushes on the brilliant, tortured, insouciant, dead-sexy men with crooked smiles.

Poor Kat. [Frown]

I never had a boyfriend throughout high school, although there were guys that liked me. The problem was that I just couldn't be attracted to them, because they were too immature for me to see them as life partners.

(And they can still be brilliant, dead-sexy, and have crooked smiles.)

I just can't be attracted to a guy that has less regard for me than a tree stump.

Poor Kat? Because my fantasy boyfriend is less reliable and more exciting than your fantasy boyfriend? Are you serious? *amused*

Honey, neither Peck nor Brando is actually going to call.

No, "Poor Kat" because I'm assuming this man-choosing method may have spilled over into your real life. [Razz]

I guess I could be wrong.

Oh good grief. No, you don't know anything about my actual love life. Although I'm flattered that you think I really dated Marlon Brando.

Actually, I thought your post on the kind of guys you have crushes on was a small admission about guys you actually like. I stand corrected.

Now for me, it's far more interesting to fantasize about strong, upstanding men with good moral fiber losing control than it is to imagine a "bad boy" losing control. I mean, they do that when the newspaper is late.

edit: After giving this some more thought, I realized that I go for the tortured guys too, although I never noticed it before. But, I think it's a different kind of tortured. It more like, really, really GOOD guys who are totally tortured by how bad the world has gotten, and how stupid people are.

That's a neat little trick he's got there when he folds his arms to make his biceps look bigger. I may not have the flat stomach he had then, but I could have creamed him in an arm-wrestling match.

Kat's Rule of Life #6: Do not discuss love life, past, present or future, on Hatrack.

----

LawGuy: I believe it. Brando was kind of a poseur. He just did that really, really well.

Oh but it's not about the biceps! It's the expression on the face, as well as the body language of languid masculine grace and power.

Funny, that is totally why I like the Jimmy Stewart kiss at the bottom of the stairs. He is just so GOOD, yet in that moment he is so BAD, and that makes so SEXY I canlt even stand to think about it.

Then there was the tame-the-bad-guy fantasy. They would fall in love with ME, even though they had been a sh** to everyone else.

And speaking of TRUE fantasy men, Ned Stark is the hottest man ever written.
