I've got a friend that was recently hit in the "nether region"--to put it in a metaphor. Anyway, I tell him he should see a doctor, cause there might be damage, he says no, he's fine.

Should I worry for him? Or am I just nagging?

Hmm.

While I'm not a medical mind, I would have him wait until the next day and inspect the "damage."

Any pain, swelling or tenderness beyond the obvious jokes here might warrant a doctor visit if the symptoms persist for more than a day or two.

S'why knees to the groin as a self-defense tactic are so overrated. If you're going to do that, you need to project through the pelvis and lift the attacker off the ground - that way you have a chance of cracking or breaking the pelvic bone.

We are conditioned by too many movies that a single knee to the groin will render a man drooling and senseless. So very not true.

Edit: For clarity

Any medical minds here, willing to give their words of wisdom?

I remember taking a slap shot to the crotch while not wearing a cup. The pain was so excruciating I thought I was going to vomit. So yeah, I'd say I has pretty drooling and senseless for a while there. It just goes to show that more people need to carry hockey sticks and pucks in the name of self defence.

As for your friend, if he can walk, isn't having trouble urinating, etc. it's probably Ok. In the end, he's the best judge of whether or not he should be going to the doctor. That's my completely unprofessional opinion, of course. Anyone who actually knows what they're talking about should feel free to chime in.

I have a friend who lost a nut because he didnt wear a cup during football practice. His crotch got stepped on by a defensemen and I guess his stuff wrapped around each other somehow. It cut the circulation off to one of them and he waited a night thinking it would go away. And in a strange horrible way I guess it did go away.

Ok, taking a shot to the groin is in no way comparable to being stepped on by a lineman!

And what self-rspecting male doesn't wear a cup but does wear spiked shoes? Eeeoowwwch.

Yeah, you'll never hear "bust a nut" quite the same way again.

A kid in my school was recently in a embarrasing, and most painful stituation. I don't rememebr who it was though.

Setting: COUNTY LACROSSE FINALS

OK, Bob(as we will call him) was playing middie and he moves up for one play in order to score a vital goal. He gets the ball, and moved a little too close to the goalies stick. Next thing you know, Bob is on the floor in a puddle of blood, with a lone testicle on the ground next to him.

Apparently it was a minor injury - nutting, in fact.

Oy.

Again, running with sharp sticks and no cup. Long live Darwin.
