Don't know if anyone's really checking the KamaCon thread any more, but I'm feeling particularly narcissistic today and thought I'd make a thread in my honour whatever the case. Bob you are so... big. And you do a great deal to impress us each and every day...

Anyway, I had said that I'd know what I'd be doing by August 1st and here's the (belated) deal: Apparently our section of the NDA isn't up to snuff and large chunks need to be rewritten. However, the FDA has given us an extension until the 13th (sound like high school?) the upshot of which is that I won't be coming to KamaCon. I could, theoretically, fly out after work and get there Friday night/Saturday morning (depending how long the meeting on the 13th is) but I foresee a long, grueling two weeks and don't expect to want to do much in the way of travel at the end of it.

I think I'm down for a space in someone's room and I'll still pay for my spot if nobody fills it. If four or five different people E-mail me saying I owe them for the room I'm going to start getting suspicious...

And rivka, I'm really sorry that I'm not going to come. I hope you didn't spend a lot of time looking for places where I could eat. I really do appreciate it, even though I won’t be taking advantage of it.

If I put the tuba back in the suitcase, does that mean you could come?

If a man had typed that, I think I might've wondered if it was a euphemism. Wouldn't make sense from kat, though.

You just had to come up with a good excuse, didn't you? [Wink] Good luck with the redo!

You will be missed.

No worries about the restaurant hunting -- I'm actually way behind on that front. Now I don't have to feel guilty anymore. [Big Grin]

No small part of my decision is that I can't actually find my Canadian Passport nor my birth certificate. I'm pretty sure I left them up North when I was getting a new health card and some other things that needed official government documentation. I don't know how often they ask Canadians for documentation these days (you are supposed to carry it) and I'd rather not spend all that money on a plane ticket only to find out that I'm not allowed on American soil. Amusingly, I do have my British passport in Toronto but I don't know if I can just cross using that. I'd probably have to do what Kama's done and get a VISA and it's probably too late to do that.

Misery loves company. Welcome to those who anticipate that they will not be able to attend, BtL. As a Vegan, does it bother you that I always think of you as a B.L.T.?

Does anyone else find it creepy that Kamacon is apparently a google ad hit for OSC meetup? Was that the consensus the first time and I just missed it? I can't see anything else in Bob's post that it would have hit on. Umm, I guess it could have been August 13th.

As if work was more important than being at KamaCon. [Wink]
