Question 1:

In which state of the US are 100% of the county engineers elected officials (as opposed to appointed?)

Answer the question, then pose one of your own...

Ohio!

I actually found a really boring page all about the history of the office. Glad to know someone gets paid to inform us of these things.

My question my be the wrong format, but:

Name the states of the U.S. whose state bird is the Western Meadowlark.

You'd think there would be enough birds to go around, but no...

Maybe Kansas can change theirs to the Jayhawk.

Hee hee... to quote John James Audoban:
quote:
Although the existence of this species (Western Meadowlark) was known to the celebrated explorers of the west, Lewis and Clark, during their memorable journey across the Rocky Mountains and to the Pacific; no one has since taken the least notice of it.

Okay, so that was inevitable. I'm not ashamed to be the one to post it.

I'm from Alaska. Our state bird is the mosquito. [Wink]

Exactly. The last question hasn't been completely answered yet. I don't know the answer, so I'm waiting for someone who does to come and, maybe, provide a question I might know the answer to.

The Ozarks are hills: most of it'll be underwater when Antarctica melts.
That's why Arkansans aren't accused of being mountainbillies.

It's illegal in all states for people under 21 to have public possession of alcohol. However, in many states it is quite legal for younger people to drink in private. Including private clubs in some states.
In over half of the states, it is legal for younger people to buy alcohol. And in over half of those states in which such purchase is legal, it is also legal for vendors to sell alcohol to those under 21.

I've bought alcohol before, and I'm quite underage. Of course, it was lab ethanol and it probably isn't safe to drink.
