Tomorrow morning at 7:00 Pacific time, I go to the dentist. I'm a little nervous about the whole sedation thing.

I know that the odds of anything bad happening are very slim, and that the staff is prepared to deal with anything that might go wrong, but I'm nervous anyway.

Therfore, I'm asking you, the members of my Hatrack family, to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

I remember being a little freaked out when I went in to have my wisdom teeth removed (general anesthesia), but everything was fine. I hope things go equally well for you! [Smile]

Ouch. [Frown] *sends good vibes*

I got my wisdom teeth out on Monday; they put me asleep, used gas, and used local anesthetic. The last thing I remembered was the doctor coming in and asking if I had any questions...then I woke up in the recovery room.

I spent the most of the day sleeping. I had a lot of bleeding, threw up a few times, and nearly passed out ever time I tried to get up. Yesterday I was finally able to get out of bed, and eat (I mean drink) some food. It isn't nearly so painful today, and I'm pretty alert, but my face is still swollen up like a chipmunk.

In other words, it seems awful at first, but it gets better. [Smile]

*sings* Good, good, good vibrations!

*hugs* You'll be fine. Good luck, and remember to take deep breaths (unless the anesthesiologist says different).

After reading this thread, it seems etirely possible we've documented a previously unknown aspect of mormon culture: Mormons like going to the dentist. Just so they can get some pharmacuticals flowing through their systems.

Have fun Derrell, enjoy the high as much as possible.

Well, I'm back from the dentist. The sedatives they gave haven't off yet so this post will be short. It's already taken me 5 minutes to write this much because my fingers don't want to work properly.

Farmgirl, I think you should consider sedation dentistry for your son. I don't even remember the ride home in the car.

I'll post more when I'm more awake. sleep posting is for the birds.

Derrell, my advice to you is sleeeep. Sleep all you can. Sleep drugged. When you sleep, you don't feel any pain.

This from the person who believes sleep is a weird sort of "cure-all". Whenever I feel rotten, I try to sleep. If I can't sleep, then it is because I am "dying".

beverly, I slept for about 4 hours after I got home. I also slept during the proceedure.

The last thin I remember is lying in the dental chair with headphones on watching a National Geographic special on volcanoes. I dpn't even remember getting out of the chair, walking out to the car, or the ride home. The next thing I remember is sitting on the couch in my living room. It had been almost 5 hours since we got home from the dentist.

I just took one of the pain pills they gave me a prescription for. (Hydrocodone, a generic form of Vicodin.) Right nopw I'm feeling no pain. [Big Grin] I figure It'll be hurting by the time I wake up. I'm not sure how long the effects of Hydrocodone last.

Farmgirl, I know you mentioned that you were considering sedattion dentistry for one of your kids. I highly recommend it. As mentioned above, I have absolutley no memory of the dental work being done. If you're interested, I can help you research the subject and find a dentist near you that does sedation dentistry.

Yep, that stuff really works. *is drugged up on it right now* It also makes you pretty sleepy. You can alternate it with Ibuprofen, take one or the other every 2 or 3 hours, so you have something working by the time one starts to fade. [Big Grin]
