Any one read this? I picked it up on a whim, without ever really hearing much about her or the trilogy. Even searched the forums and it seems she's never been mentioned. SO I thought I'd mention it. I'm not much of a reviewer but it was a pretty good read. the system of magic is one that might apeal to a number of people here. It' based on song. THe main character, Rhapsody, uses the true names of people and things to match the natural vibration of that object in song to heal or change it.

Yes, I read it and two of the subsequent novels as well. Prophecy and Destiny were the next two and I haven't read the fourth and fifth ones. Here is a link that lists the books in the series. I've quite enjoyed what I've read so far but I think the first novel is significantly better than the subsequent ones.

For some reason I transposed what you were talking about to this: http://www.classical.net/music/recs/reviews/t/tlc80596a.html (Higdon to Hayden, it was as musical sounding title, and Jennifer and Elizabeth are both common female names.) A CD I'd like to own one of these days.

I read it and the next 2 books. Haven't read 4th book yet, didn't realize there was a 5th. It was a pretty cool story, and I enjoyed it, though there seemed a lot of cheap tricks used to make it so that the people simply wouldn't talk to each other when "real people" would have -- and therby a ton of the conflict that made the story go would have been resolved a lot earlier.
Typical of "less experienced" writers. Still, good reading.

yea, it wasn't the greatest bit of writting but it was worth the read. I'll definately get the next two just to see how it all concludes. It actually took me about a week to finish the book and considering I read each of Martin's books in about two days and they are about 3-4 times as long, I would have to say that it definately took me a while to get into it. But once I got going I was happy with it. I've read better but I've definately read worse and since I've read most of the things I was immediately interested in it was worth the try. Which, by the way, the Song of Ice and Fire books are amazing, and I thank all the fanatics here who kept and keep pushing it to the rest of us.

I have read them all. I enjoy them. I like them on the order of the Outlander series, I guess. They are enjoyable reads but don't rank with Martin or Tolkien for my affection.
I like Achmed, he's just so uber cool. I was mad at Rhapsody for falling for the pretty boy.

My roommate introduced me to them. There's a lot that I wish had been more clearly explained, like how Grunthor got into the whole mess of it all. I am looking forward to reading Elegy for a Lost Star, though the original trilogy was perfectly complete on its own, I thought.
