It's interesting how many nice are near where we live, and we don't know them. I went to some very cool places near Rio de Janeiro (where I was born and raised) and never knew of them!
Well...let's begin. Today is september 7th. It may not mean much to any of you, but it's Brazilian independence day (Yay! - 09/07/1822). So, It's a national holiday, much like 4th july for you Americans. Since the holyday would be today, monday were one of these days where almost nobody works. To tell you the truth, public employees were given the day off. That means four free days, from saturday to...today! The question was...what to do? The usual movie+RPG+pizza stuff? No! Me, my girlfriend, her sister and her sister's fiancée decided to...travel!
Since this was such a nice extended weekend, I'd like to tell you all about it (and I have the pictures). We had adventure, great food, funny quotes, and did I mention great food? Oh yes! Lots and lots of chocolat!
Stay tuned. As soon as I post the pictures in my photoalbum I'll link to them. Later in the day I'll start telling the story (</irony> you must be so anxious to read it by now! </irony>)!

Ooh, glad you had a good weekend! We also had a long weekend here -- Labor Day was Monday. We went to the Milwaukee Art Museum on Saturday, which looks like a ship from the outside and has some very interesting architecture. It was a bit frustrating, though, because they wanted a seamless look, so you cannot find any of the stairways or doorways!
Chocolate, mmmm! Heaven? What are you standing in front of, jams? A fake snowman?! *giggle* I can't wait for the rest of the story.

Wherever there is an uninterrupted 24 hour period, pizza, code red, paper, and dice, there dwelleth the role playing geek.
Otaku know no national boundaries and should swear allegiance to know one but Gary Gygax.
In recognition of this, we need an international otaku day of celebration.

Nice pics, Eduaro...you and your girlfriend are very cute together.
I like the snowman....and the part whre you say it is fake...just in case we thought that you had a real snowman ther in South America to hide behind...
First of all: Christy, in the “heaven” picture, I’m standing (as you can see) before a huge assortment of fruit jams and compotes. About the fake snowman: well...there could be a real snowman in South America. Somewhere like “Terra del Fuego”, in Argentina, near the South Pole. But yeah (mumble), in Brazil it would be hard.
So, Rosângela, friend of Telma (my girlfriend's sister), would have her birthday on Sunday (09/05) at her parent’s house, located in Volta Redonda, also called the “Steel City”, because of its main industry. She invited us to go there and spend the whole weekend. Volta Redonda is not that beautiful, being mainly an industrial place, but the prop was: Before going there, we could stop by “Penedo”, one of the largest Finnish colonies in the world. It’s located on the montains, so the climate is way cooler than Rio’s, although it’s a less than 2 hours trip. Penedo is amazing. Great food, nice and friendly people, fantastic chocolate, cool climate (one gets tired of almost year-long heat), delicious ice cream and...did I mention the chocolate? I wouldn't imagine that there are a lot of Finnish areas in Brasil. Am I mistaken? What a beautiful waterfall. It looks like a great little spot.
