Having been told that I'm not "girly" enough, I decided to look up some differences between men and women to try to see what exactly constitutes being girly and I came across this list of differences between men and women.

I know it's all in humor and that they're generalizations/stereotypes but just how many applied to you, and how many applied to you but were intended for the opposite sex?

In the groceries and laundry category, I'm definitely not girly at all.

In what context was this comment made, Uhl? Did they mention specific topics on which you should be more girly?

Do you use your teeth to open beer bottles as a party trick?

Nope, no party tricks from me.

I was told this because I don't wear skirts/dresses; I don't wear makeup; I'm not a very emotionally expressive person; I supposedly didn't react the right way, according to an outsider, when my significant other admitted to liking me after months of poorly hiding it; I was actually the one to tell him I liked him first, which was again not a girly thing to do according to outsiders; I hate phones for the most part; I can't cook or do much of anything in the domestic arena; I hate shopping for anything other than movies or music; I don't wear enough jewelry-the only jewelry I wear is a simple necklace.

Those are some of the major complaints from people who know me.

This is because men are rock-heads and can't see the billboard you have built out in their front yards. As far as giving hints and being playful, women are yards ahead of most guys, IMO.

Hmm... I'm girly, and everyone I know complains about it.

My roommate: No, Annie, you're not an emotional drain and... for heaven's sake, stop bawling! It was Little Women - you've seen it before! No, I don't want to go shopping. Nope, not even just to the Mexican aisle at Albertsons to see if the price on dried chiles has gone down yet. Get a life!

Mm. Women DO look good in hats!
I have horrible penmenship. My handwriting looks like chickens trying to write in Chinese backwards
Some men do have bodies they should show off often, like the guy in Smallville.
i don't like shoes. If I had 50 dollars I'd spend it on cds, opera or a video game, not fancy shoes. All I need is a pair of sneakers and gore tex boots for when it gets cold.
I think I'm way more stereotypically manly than girly, but I keep crying over Elfquest and Haibane Renmei which annoys me.

To be fair, women are not usually very good at picking up on "I like you" hints either.

Hah! I have yet to see that as a bad thing.

Your social inclinations are different and you don't fit the common stereotypes - and quite frankly, I don't see that as a problem.

As you have noted, you're only "not girly" enough if we accept a certain standard, edition or stereotype of just what constitutes a girl.

PSI - well, yeah. Sorry, that's come back to bite me on more than one occasion. But I'm getting better...I think.

I think it's better Uhl cut through the social tap-dancing, otherwise she might not have gotten her significant other which, I assume, is a good thing.

Maybe, but a man's "I like you" hints are things like NOT calling you doofus when you get something on your nose.

No, we don't want to be obvious about it because we don't want to scare men off, who tend to go a bit slower with the emotional thing.
