So, we have reached the slow part of the month here at work, and I am bored. And my LiveJournal friends list is not being very entertaining today. *glares at list*

I know a bunch of jatraqueros keep blogs and stuff on their own sites. Any chance any of you have feeds? If so, I can create a syndicated account for them on LiveJournal and thus read them on my friends list. [Big Grin]

Most feed types should work. From the LiveJournal FAQs:

quote:

When adding a new feed URL, please note that LiveJournal supports most versions of RSS, as long as the code is valid. Officially, the supported versions of RSS are 0.9, 0.91, and 1.0; however, versions 0.92 and 2.0 are based on 0.91, and so most feeds using these versions of RSS will work on LiveJournal.

That's a bit outdated, I think, because I know I've answered a few support requests about Atom feeds.

ALSO! LiveJournal provides feeds for every user, in both RSS and Atom. Here are mine:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/xnera/data/rss
http://www.livejournal.com/users/xnera/data/atom

Feel free to add me to your RSS readers if you'd like. [Big Grin]

xnera, you inspired me to get a livejournal, though I wasn't so presumptuous as to put you on my friends list. I can't promise it is very juicy. (edit: I run wild with negatory conjunctions)

my new livejournal

We have three computers and it seems I'm always getting kicked off of one, so I really like logging into livejournal. And as anticipated, I can feel like I'm on the internet even though I'm just talking to myself.

It says right in my userinfo that I am welcome to being friended by one and all, so do feel free to friend me. [Big Grin]

Farmgirl, you may be confused, but I know exactly what pooka means:

quote:

But there's the buffer of a text-based world.

Yes. This.

I think it's not so much the fact that us introverts are posting for all the world to see, but that there's a distance between us and our audience that's caused by the method of our communication. Instead of talking face to face, for all we know we could be shouting out in an empty room. There's less danger and energy involved, and thus it makes it easier for us to communicate.

I find it interesting that I have no problem posting on my own journal but have problems responding to posts on Hatrack. There's definitely a different mindset involved in the two. My journal is mine: it is me speaking to thoughts, and others responding if they like or choose to. But posting on a forum such as Hatrack, it's very much about a two-way conversation; and worse, it's not one-to-one, but one-to-many, which makes this introvert terrified. Even posting this comment here feels a bit safer and easier than posting on hatrack, because I am directly responding to *you* and not just posting for all the world to see, even though that's actually what's happening. Does that make sense?

Turgan: DUDE, ALREADY DONE!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] Oh, and you're not pathetic for having multiple journals. I have... um, let me think... NINE journals on various sites. Half of those are dormant, or are used only for testing and troubleshooting. But yeah, I like to journal. *grins*

edit: Ooo, thanks, Sara! I am sure I will love the article. [Smile] I am a flaming INFP.

Fixed link to take you to the complete article.

Do you know whether OperaJournal feeds? I'm venturing out on my own, but I might just end up sending you a link.

I just took a peek at Operajournal.com, and it looks like it's based on Moveable Type, which usually does have feeds. I've never used MT myself, but my understanding is that there is some setting in it that you have to turn on to get it to produce the feed. Though it might be defaulted to "on".

reading your journal, I think I'm beginning to finally understand why my daughter thinks all high school boys are........well, immature.

I TAKE IT OUT WHEN I NEED TO GO TO SCHOOL!!!!!

I'm not a crazy psycho tyrant that shoots guns at anything coming my way. Fact is, if I see a mountain lion, I'm gonna stay exactly where i am and call the house with my cell and make my grandfather kill it.
I'm scared to death of guns and The only time i ever EVER lay my hands on one is when Grandpa hands it to me or if it's of the paintball type or the lazer tag type.

And do those rules even APPLY at college? I'm sure they do, but it would be really interesting to open up all the trunks here and investigate.

If you absolutely wish to read my humble thoughts, mostly of things that catch my interest, not of my daily life, you may read them here, on my livejournal.

I update sporadically, and when inspired to.

I use Blogger. I used to be pretty free about what I posted, since I didn't expect anyone to actually read it - especially anyone I know in real life. Then I got an email from someone I dated in high school and he reads my blog. I am so inhibited about what I write now.

Which is a pity, because I used my blog as sort of therapy - I used to put my feelings about what was going on and I don't want to do that any more.

I do, by default, write in a journal. I write out long posts to start threads on Hatrack, then copy and save them as a .doc file and don't post the thread because people know me in real life now. *sigh*

I'm afraid my journal will fall flat. For some reason I'v enever been able to be totally honest with a journal, for two reasons:

1. I'm painfully aware that I'm putting my own spin on things, and I find it annoying when I'm not perfectly balanced. As you can imagine, I'm often annoyed at myself.

2. Someone might find it and read it.

So, the very fact that it's a *Live* Journal guarantees number two, and number one is unfixable.

I'll see if I can think of a gimmick for mine.

You are most welcome! I wish I could claim credit for creating Lilitou, but she actually is from Nocturne_Alley (Remus gave her to Snape, who had always wanted a kitten). I just loved the originating post so much I made an icon for it, and then started using Lilitou as my "grr, argh, BITE ME" icon. [Big Grin]

And I am amused that it is all the LiveJournalers who are responding to this thread, since I was specifically asking for feeds from non-LJers. *laughs* But hey, the more people on my friends list, the merrier! And the thread did the trick, anyway -- I got one of the feeds I wanted (Jamie's!) and will be creating an account for it shortly. [Big Grin]

edit: And that took about two seconds! It is madowl_feed, for anyone LJer who wants to add it to their friends list.

Yes, Farmgirl, Barry Manilow is one of my guilty pleasures, a hangover from childhood. My mom is a big fan, and I grew up dancing and singing my heart out to his records in my living room. One of my favorite childhood pictures is of me and my brother dancing together to "Break Down the Door" - yes, I do in fact remember exactly what song we were dancing to when Mom took it. For ages and ages, my favorite song in the whole world was "Let's Hang On."

One Saturday, Mom and I even sat down and watched Copacabana together. That is one crappy movie! [Big Grin]

Yep! He hates "Copacabana" (the song - I've never made him watch the movie), so of course I always turn it way up when it comes on, and sing as loudly as I can manage through the giggling. [Evil]
