And again I get another plane flight cancelled. Headed home for Yom Kippur, but I have to cancel the trip because I can't take the risk that my return flight Sunday night will be cancelled, first Frances cancels my flight to Boston, now this devil storm intentionally delays landfall to interupt my trip.
And it looks like its headed toward Orlando...again.

Yeah, its really just a blob with no real formation, but it looks like its mainly just dumping rain. Nothing like getting hit by half the alphabet of hurricanes. Bonnie, Charley, Frances, Ivan, and now Jeanne.

Tom, you remember that blog about the Left Behind series? I have been keeping up with it (though no new articles about the books yet) and I ran into a link to a Florida voting map. The paths of the three most recent hurricanes run right through the areas that Bush carried....

See, even the weather knows who to vote for!
Seriously, though... If meteorologists are right this could become the norm for florida. Apparently we've been in a lull in terms of Atlantic hurricane formation for the past 20-30 years. Forecasts are for that to end, and for increasing number of more powerful hurricanes to hit. This is not to say it's just for Florida - but Florida does stick out as target #1.

While driving to the Marlins game tonight, I noticed that a lot of people have still left either storm shutters or plywood up. Guess they figured it's not worth taking it down till the season is over.
Aside to Tom: I did NOT vote for Bush.

My co-worker, Jean Smith, said her mom called and told her that Hurricane Jeanne had headed back out into the ocean bur Hurricane Lisa came along and kicked Hurricane Jeanne's butt and sent it back towards the coast.
Jean Smith's mom's name is Lisa.

I'm trying to find a map that shows full circle of Jeanne and of Ivan from original inception (can't find it on the Hurricane Center page) because it seems to me Jeanne was there, then she circled away from the US and we all went "Whew!" and now she's circled back around lower and it coming in from the Carribean??? And the same with Ivan -- he's back again after already going on-shore and pewtering out after dumping truck loads of rain on the east?

I saw that map, but I heard it was doctored and that the paths of the hurricane's eyes weren't accurate.
I even saw some poster refute it by pointing out that all the hardest hit areas (and where the deaths occurred, etc. ) were all BLUE voting districts.
Frankly, I don't put much faith that anyone has put together the facts of such either way, but that's just me.
Either way, I really feel for the Floridians. I would be moving if it were me. I feel sorry for anyone who stays because of future danger and the almost assured astronomical home insurance fees.

That's the one I saw. But those lines don't look like the path of the eyes on the Satelite photo based maps.
The "S" shape through florida on the one I haven't seen before.
And I know some of those other blue counties were hit just as hard as some of the red ones.
Thanks for posting the link.
Again, it's just my opinion, but maybe someone down in Florida can shed some light on the distribution of the damage.

The map is definitely doctored. For one it has the Keys as having voted for Bush when they are really part of Monroe county, a county which voted for Gore.
Also the coast of Florida recently went from to . Hurricane Watch to Hurricane Warning.

Looking at it again, Frances exited Florida and into the Gulf around Pinellas and reentered the Panhandle near Jefferson, Wakulla, and Leon. All but Wakulla voted Gore in 2000.
