I'm not really interested in organizing a big get together of epic proportions and putting in time and effort like others were for me (AJ, for example [Group Hug] ) but there's a good chance I'll be going to see this Epic Event, not sure which of the possible dates, and certainly not all preformances since I do have school... but if anyone would like to join me, I'd be thrilled to have company, and we should start planning soon, I guess most of the tickets are already gone! [Eek!]

Sigh, I love classical music
but I really really dislike Wagerian opera
I love Mozart operas though. And if you need a place to crash you are welcome to stay here.

I pass by the Civic Opera House every day. Wondered if the signs for next year's season were referring to THAT Ring. I'm definitely curious about going, but as you said, tickets are extremely hard to come by for any performance there if you aren't a season ticketholder. Individual tickets typically don't even go on sale until about a month before the season begins - and that's assuming there's any left. I wanted to see Pirates of Penzance when it was being performed there last year (two years ago now maybe since this is the end of the season?) but it was completely sold out as of the first day of open sales. [Frown]

Anyway, should you be in town and interested, I'd love to get to meet you! (assuming of course I can get someone to watch the little scriveners for a while)

Bannaoj, I played a set of Don Giovannis a few months ago. It music was charming, but the story was more depressing than heart-wrenching.

I like the Italian operas. I'm an Othello or Turandot man. The music is beautiful and the stories rip your heart out.

Hobbes, I'll be jealous of you...

[Razz] <--Green with envy

Seriously, I have the opportunity to see a lot of good opera where I am, but seeing the whole Ring cycle would be spiffy. I'm not even that big of a Wagner fan, but I know what the operas are to classical music, and I know what they've done for classical music, and for that alone, they're awe-inspiring. Not to mention having a very fun and twisted plot line [Big Grin]

I went to the cycle two years ago. I'm sure you'll have a blast, Hobbes! Wagner is very nice (IMHO, of course)

I'm envious too, see? [Big Grin]
