It’s been a long time since we’ve had a true smilie thread, and I think it’s time again. [Cool] What is a smilie thread? It’s purpose is not to spit out the most emoticons, or to inundate the board with color. Rather it’s purpose is to make and share happiness. Each smilie should represent the light inside of you shining out for all to see. Here is we’re we are happy, and here is where we show it.

Perhaps a story. In my hometown I always went to the same barber. When I was little, of course, my Mother would take me to a general hair-cutting salon and various women would be striding around sharing gossip and cutting hair. I never liked it, they always asked stupid questions, and I didn’t want to answer. Perhaps it’s one of America’s version of the coming-of-age custom, from men to boys, whatever it is, eventually a male will have to seek out his own barber shop, one in which he’s comfortable, where he likes to go and likes the look he always gets. Well, I found mine, a small little place stuck in the middle of a community shopping center. A weather-worn wooden sign hanging above the entrance proclaims in faded greens “Hair Shop”, and that’s exactly what it is. Inside you’ll find a couple old and comfortable couches and magazines strewn all over, most of them many months old, but that’s OK, this place doesn’t seem to exist within our normal time-line, it seems to have a separate reality. Lining the sides of the creamy-colored interior are six full sized barber chairs, but only one is ever used. It’s run by a man, maybe 40, maybe 60, it doesn’t matter, he’s overweight but he’s happy, and he’s nice and gentle. A call-back to the age when barber shops were where one went to discuss and relax, part of a smaller society, a smaller town. Sometimes here all there is to talk about is the weather, but even then it seems interesting, and the barber smiles and cuts your hair. That’s what I remember most of all, the smile, I’ve never seen another expression on his face, just a calm, relaxed smile. And that’s what this place is all about, showing your happy in your life, perhaps, showing peace. [Smile]

I got a special [Big Grin] today. My two bosses have five real estate closings in the next week. Steve specializes in real estate, so no big deal. Howard, however, focuses on estate planning and corporate work, but one of his closings is his recently-deceased mother's condo.

Well, before Howard could come to me with the request for closing documents today, I'd already gotten all but one form completed - without needing his input on details. He came to me, said we needed to get documents, I handed him a stack.

His response... "Wow, you've really got this down pat now!" [Big Grin] Okay, so it doesn't have quite the warm fuzzy in text..... LOL

Jon Boy would be very disappointed that you misspelt "smiley".

Wait - where the frag is Jon Boy? Did he make some goodbye thread while I was gone, or summin'?

This afternoon my little brother, 5, wanted to buy something, but he didn't have the right amount of money with him. So he turns and asks, "Mommy, can I use five of your dollars?". She answers, "Then I would be paying for it!". "OK!" he says with a gleam in his eye.

The little trickster! [No No]

Ralphie,

Jon Boy has this misguided belief that he will have more time and accomplish all kinds of amazing things if he stays away from Hatrack.

The fool.

More time to watch TV . . .

More time to eat ice cream . . .

More time to drive to that secret coffee bar in Nevada . . .

A simile thread? I'll try to do one with the world's most awkward rhyme:

I saw the sun shining bright and orange,
Up in the sky, like a great big lozenge.

I'm making fudge-filled cinnomon rolls as we speak. [Smile] They'll be coming out of the oven in just a few minutes now! [Big Grin] [Cool]

I asked my 2-year-old daughter to [Big Grin] at me, and instead she [Razz] at me and said, "No."

[Wall Bash]

So this argument ensues with me saying yes and she saying no over and over. In true Bugs Bunny fashion, I finally say, "No." (I pause dramatically [Roll Eyes] )

And she says, "Yes!".

You gotta love it! [Evil] [Evil] [Evil]
