This is not just for the benefit of Central Florida Hatrackers, but for anybody who might have cause to visit Central Florida in the next six weeks.
The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is the coolest event that Epcot holds. All around the World Showcase Lagoon they erect kiosks. There are dozens of them, and each one is from a different country (except for "The Carribean," which together got a single kiosk last year ). The kiosks sell little food items--think tapas-style entrees--and small glasses wines from their country. Usually there are two to three food items and two wines or so per booth, and there may be a beer from whatever country as well. Note that this is not just the eleven countries or so that actually have Epcot pavillions, but, once again, dozens of countries. I have had a great time in the past making a day of this, not eating any actual meal at any restaurant, but just "eating (and drinking) my way around the world." You get to try a lot of unique stuff. If you find a wine you like, you can buy it by the bottle as well. And of course, all the usual Epcoty goodness is there as well.
You can't get into the Food and Wine Festival without having a ticket to Epcot, and then there's the price of whatever you eat and drink to factor in as well, so it ain't necessarily cheap. But it is a neat experience!
So, of course, CF clump, do you want to make a day of this? I know I'm the only one of us with an annual pass, so I won't hold my breath. :-\

I did this about 4 years ago, before I became a Hatrack-Addict and knew there were fun people in that area. It was great. Mead, Saki, Sam Addams Beer Tasting Pavilion.
I highly recommend it.

The Morocco part of Epcot is my very favorite place on earth. I only say this because I'm too poor to go to the real Morocco. The thought of having couscous is making me drool....

Count me out. We Disney'd ourselves out a year or so ago when we had passes. It'll be a while before I can do Disney again.
Plus, I've got a Universal pass that's not getting used nearly enough. Let me know when you're ready to ride the Mummy.

On my last visit to Epcot, I wandered down one of the dead end alleyways in Morroco section, and ran into an older, overweight couple dressed in leather and rubber.
Apparently, it was their favorite place as well.
Unfortunately, after seeing them, it is no longer one of mine.

My parents and my sister's family are going to Disney this month. I was supposed to go with, but they cancelled my room because of my finances--and didn't tell me until two weeks AFTER they had did so. By that point I had already decided it was in my best interests to cancel the trip, but dude, they could have discussed it instead of making the decision for me!
I intend to get myself back down to Disney as soon as it is financially possible. It's been too long. And I will eat in Morocco when I go. I've always wanted to, but my family has never shown an interest.

I didn't like the Morocco food that much. I think I had lamb kebabs or something. There was a vegetable meddly from a can and the rice was cold. The belly dancer was okay. I wanted to sit on the floor and eat with my hands.

I would love to join you for this. I think it's unlikely that we will be able to do so, unfortunately.
Thanks for thinking of us, though. We need to get back up there to see you guys again some time - maybe in a less expensive venue.
