Do they have lockers at Penn Station? I'm flying to Newark in a few days and going to see Wicked in New York that evening. We were thinking we'd save on train tickets by going straight from the airport to New York, so I need somewhere to stash my stuff during the show.

I thought surely they'd have lockers in a train station, but then my cousin said she thought they had gotten rid of them after 9/11.

Anyone?

Jen

I know that when I was at Penn a few years back they did have lockers. I can also tell you that Union Station in Chicago has gotten rid of all but a very small section of lockers in the last 6 months or so. I'm sure it's related to 9/11 fears but took them a very long time to actually make the change.

It's probably best to assume that there are no available lockers and make alternate plans. =(

Penn Station Amtrak has a baggage service that runs from 5:15 am to 11:59 pm daily. You could call Amtrak to find out if they'll store your bags for you.

Alternatively, you might be able to store your stuff with the bell staff at a local hotel.

And, if the place you are going has a coat check, you can find out ahead of time if they'll accommodate the amount of baggage you intend to bring with you.

I was there last year and the lockers were still there, I think.

I don't usually go up to the NJTransit/Amtrak area unless I want Krispy Kreme, but I don't recall seeing any lockers. Don't take my word, I wasn't looking very hard.
