I'm watching Labyrinth...and that scene with Jennifer Connelly and the big white dress. *sigh*

I just love that scene, and the costumes. I'm jealous that she gets to dance with David Bowie in all of his hotness and have her hair done up like that.

I want to BE her in that scene.

Don't you? [Smile]

Jake, I think I speak for most heterosexual guys in the room when I say that, presented with Jennifer Connelly in that dress, looking like that, thoughts of being her so that we could dance with David Bowie would in fact be the furthest thing from our minds. [Smile]

Jennifer Connelly is so dreamy.
She is on the cover of some fashion magazine.
I should watch that movie again. My character has a thing for David Bowie.

Narnia: I completely agree. And the heterosexual guys can dream of being in David Bowie's place and dancing with Jennifer Connelly. So there. [Taunt]

If I could pick anyone to be mistaken for Noemon would be high on my list. Thanks. [Cool]

Ya know, as terminally cute as Jennifer was in that scene, I don't think she was hot enough to make me want to be David Bowie.

I mean, trying to squeeze into those pants? My god(dess)...

[Big Grin] When I was visiting Bob last May we had the Labyrinth soundtrack playing while we were getting ready for a party. The ballroom song was playing when he came into the room wearing a full-sleeved shirt, kind of like David Bowie wears in Labyrinth. (Well, okay, not very like, except for the sleeves.)

He’s not allowed to wear that shirt or play that CD anymore until after the wedding.

OK, just quickly glancing through this thread, I've pieced together that Noemon wants to be Jennifer Connelly and Tom wants to squeeze into tight pants. I'm going to leave now...

Speaking as a heterosexual male, no, I don't want to be Jennifer Connelly. I'd rather be David Bowie, but not to dance with Jennifer Connelly. She was never all that attractive to me. I just want to be David Bowie because . . . well, gosh darn it, David Bowie is just awesome.

Then again, I have been known to say he's the only man I'd ever turn gay for. So maybe. . . .

Ya know Ryuko, I never noticed Bowie's package while watching the movie before.

Now I don't want to watch the film because I won't be able to stop noticing it.

As for Ms. Connelly being overly slim - not a chance. Laura Flynn Boyle - that's a scary looking woman.

Oh my gosh, you can't say that he's not hot in Labyrinth though. He's been scary before and since then, but in that movie, he's perfect. Deep voice, British accent, awesome cape...

And yeah. My sister and I laugh about his package too Abby. You're totally right there.

By the way Dana, that is a very romantic story. [Big Grin]

You can do a keyword search on Google, but she was the love interest in "Pearl Harbor" which is the last big mainstream flick I can remember.

Jennifer Connelly, that is.

Fyfe thought this was one of the worst movies ever. We were at Walmart, and she asked me what DVD she should buy, and I told her Labyrinth, and so she got it, watched it, and hated it, so she gave it to me.

Did anyone else really hate this movie?

I think it's great.

I tried watching it and fell asleep at the end. I didn't even want to watch it in the first place but I thought I'd give it a shot since my roommate couldn't say enough good things about it. After I started watching it, I wasn't entertained at all...which is why I fell asleep.

And David Bowie did absolutely nothing for me. The outfit was annoying, the hair was horrible, the makeup, blegh and his voice...that drove me crazy, speaking or singing.

I think you have to have watched this movie around the time it was made in order to appreciate it. It's hard to compare it to more modern (IE, non 80's) flicks. I REALLY want to learn to do that crystal ball juggling thing Bowie does in that movie. That just looks awesome.

I don't know if it was a comparison problem for me. I love movies from the 80s, so if I compared it to any movies, it'd be to movies that came out when I was a kid (that I still watch). But I do think you're right. I think I'd have to have seen it then to appreciate it now. Most movies I still enjoy from when I was a kid I probably wouldn't like if I saw them for the first time now.

What's interesting about the crystal ball trick is thst the technology didn't exist for them to just SFX it in -- and Bowie, while a talented juggler, isn't that good -- so they had a professional juggler stand behind him and reach under his arm for those shots. Seriously. [Smile]

So the man can't juggle. [Big Grin]

But I still think he's great. I mean, look at how he looks the rest of his life...his look in Labyrinth (hair, spandex, makeup) is definitely an improvement.

And I really love the music that he wrote for the film.

And I still want to be Jennifer C. in that scene...and several others. Like the one where she's hanging from that branch over the bog of eternal stench...and the one where she confronts him at the end in his poofy white owl costume...yeah. Some of those are great.
