He's growing on me. I dislike like rap so much. It's not melodic enough. Too much talking. But I saw 8 Mile two times in one day and thought it was very interesting. These folks would stand around and just pump out rhymes instantly. It was amazing. Like poetry. There is no way I could do that. The movie itself was good, but so violent and just about every three seconds someone was saying the F word ( F word!) and beating someone up, but it had that nice theme I like so much about some poor ordinary guy trying to make his dream come true. And I loved the climatic scene at the end. Plus, the song Lose Yourself gives me chills. But, Eminem still annoys me a bit. There's something irratating about a person trying to push buttons every five seconds and constantly offending people, but it depends. Kyo of Dir en grey often has songs that cause my skin to fall off from shock, but perhaps it's not as noticiable to me because he sings in Japanese...

I approve of the cartoon image of his political protest/capitalization song Mosh that goes with the line, "Strap him with an Ak-47, let him go, fight his own war".
Not that any US troops over there now have the right to complain, and not that I expect to get drafted even if one is instituted by either candidate, but I resent the implication made by him (and others) that the war is my fault or responsibility because I happen to live on the same continent as the jerks who started it, none of whom I voted for, support, or recognize as sovereign over me.

I have to admit it - I'm a fan. In short, I think the man is awesome. Once you realize that his songs are designed to push buttons and poke fun at stereotypes then you begin to realize just how clever he is.

I may not like his music much... But I love what he stands for, he is... a great father. He loves his daughter and is trying to give her the best... For that I salute him.

He's cool because he seemed to have started off dirt poor. Even worse than my situation and look where he is now... I can love any type of music... Even rap... The problem with rap though is you have to pay complete attention to the lyrics and sometimes they lyrics are F word this, F word that, bxxxhes, hos, ect... At least his lyrics seem to have a bit of power to them, but Kyo of Dir en grey has even MORE power.

I know what you mean. I used to hate Eminem, but them my brother burned a cd of all of my favorite songs.... and Eminem, so I had to listen to it alot and it really started to grow on me.

I also have a burnt cd with eminem on it, and find him much more tolerable than I did before I got this cd. I'm not sure what song it is though.

I truly believe that Eminem is one of the most talented wordsmiths in the recording industry today. Rap is a lot harder to write than most people realize; to be able to crank out such a large number of words and deliver them at such a rapid pace, and yet still have them rhyme and never sound like a line was forced, takes talent that most professional songwriters can only dream of. It takes a true poet to be able to pull it off, and Eminem is one of the best out there today.
That said, however, I don't actually like him. Most of the time, I can't get around the horribly ugly meaning of his beautifully-crafted lyrics. His lyrics are much deeper than most of the rap that's out there, but they're still brutal and too obscene. I like a few of his songs, most notably "Lose Yourself", but I can't actually pay money to support his career. My disapproval of his topics, as with the topics of most rappers, is just too strong.

I agree with Verily the Younger. IMO, Eminem is an exceptionally talented man. Unfortunately, he doesn't fit into my choice of music that I want to listen to or want my kids to listen to.

In my book, to be a GREAT father you've got to pick a good mother and wife for your child, Em botched it in that department, so he can't get Straight A's as a dad.
