For those of you who have been curious as to how my AOL adventure ended:

well, after 1 year 8 months of free AOL...my adventure comes to an end. This time when I called up and said that 'money was tight' he said "I understand, I'll cancel your account now." I even tried to throw him a bone by saying "All I really use AOL for is to watch music video's, so I don't want to pay for that one thing." I was trying to get him to tell me about some great AOL feature that I was missing out on, so he would give me another month to 'try it out.' Sadly, he did not take the bait. Oh well, it is for the best. Last month they tried to charge me anyway, so I was a bit annoyed with them.

However, they did state as a courtesy, they would give me one more month free to change my mind. If I don't change my mind before then, and authorize them to charge me, my account will be automatically terminated. I was starting to get sick of calling them every month anyway.

So by the time I get cut off, the grand total will be 1 year 9 months of free AOL. The first year was free from gateway (for buying a new computer), the last 9 months were free because AOL kept giving me more free months to keep me on.

I guess even AOL has a breaking point.

That reminds me of the Carl's Jr. next to where I used to go to school and work.

And how's that? you might ask.

Well, I think I've gotten more free food from that place than I've ever paid for. They can't get orders right, and they're slow as snails. I'd always be in a hurry because I was between classes or on the way to work, and when they would take forever to get a simple order out, or would give me the wrong thing, I would complain. Then they'd offer free food, which I would, of course, accept, being a poor student at the time and all. It got to the point where it started to become a farce. [Big Grin]

On a side note, Lupus, you can get free dial up from the University, if you didn't know.

I actually have a broadband account through Cox

I wasn't actually using AOL to access the internet, I was connecting to AOl (the few times I used it) through my broadband.

as for dial up
1) It is to slow [Razz]
2) I don't have a landline in my apartment

but I did use gatorlink back before broadband was popular here.

Remember to check your bank or credit card statement, just in case they "accidentally" start charging you.

::applauds::

[Smile]

I get as much pizza free as I pay for from Donato's Pizza, because when I order, I always ask them to cut my pizza normally, like, you know, a pizza. I hate their "party cut" of little square pieces with no crust. >_< Well, they always forget and make me a new pizza, and give me the old pizza free. [Big Grin]

Ooh, that's a good idea Icarus. Do you go to hell if you order it that way hoping that they'll screw up? [Smile]

Have you had Donato's chicken mariachi pizza? Best. Pizza. Ever.
