If people don't notify me, their email is likely to end up in the spam box. So if you just send me an email and I don't answer, it doesn't mean I don't like you.

Careful, kat. You really want the entire front page taken up with threads asking OSC to e-mail people?

*explains* I mailed the KamaCon t-shirt, but I don't know if it got there. The mailing was, um, rather recent... If ScottR is chatting with him, I was going to ask him to ask OSC if they got it. :

kat: It hasn't worked yet. . . do you think it will?
mack: Someone as smart as you are never has an excuse to feel like an idiot. Leave that to the professional foot-in-mouthers, the dumbutts, the airheads, the tools, even.
Or me. Preferably them, but if idiocy must be felt, why, I can do in a pinch.

you might want to rethink your approach. I can't find it right now, but I read something on this last week, and I'm almost certain it was one of OSC's archived columns...
He referred to King's "Misery" and said something along the lines of:
"When someone tells me they're my number one fan, I always tell them I'd be more comfortable if they stayed at number 50 or 60."
Can't find it right now, but your appeal might not have the impact you would wish.

Hehehehe. Speaking of tools, I was playing scrabble with a friend the other day (as in, real in life scrabble) and I'd gotten practically all vowels the ENTIRE GAME.
Near the end, I put down two words that delievered my feelings on the game to my friend.
DIE.
followed by TOOL on the next turn.
That earned me a punch in the shoulder. I say it was worth it.

Thanks (but fix the link)! (Note: Sax fixed link while I was typing this post)
Here it is:
quote:And the villain adds to the tradition of Stephen King's Misery in making famous people want to pull out a gun when someone says, "I'm your number one fan." (My favorite answer: "I actually prefer the company of fans who are content to stay at number fifty or sixty.")
Maybe you should try changing the title of the thread to "OSC - I'm your 50th biggest fan!" or something like that and see if that gets his attention.

Tammy-- no. The #51 thing is a ploy to get him to feel more comfortable about emailing me.
I really am OSC's #1 fan. I can post this here, so far down in the thread, because, similar to John Joseph Adams of the Magazine of F&SF fame, OSC doesn't really read everything. Just the first part of threads. He'll see my first post, feel an immediate, strong kinship, and email me.
And it's all cake from there, baby.

Maybe next time I'm in San Diego (Christmas, most likely), I can swing around and get your signature in my Hatrack River book.
