Some people have told me that it is proper to brush your teeth as soon as you wake up, but I brush mine after breakfast. It makes sense to me because not only do you scrub away the germs from the night before, but also additional ones from the meal . And I also brush once right before going to sleep, because sleeping is just easier with a fresh mouth .
So when do you brush your teeth? Am I doing it right?

The only downside to brushing your teeth after breakfast is how do you handle the tongue? Because that's where bad breath comes from, and if you scrub after breakfast you just might in the process regurgitate a considerable amount of those eggs you just had.

I do mine in the morning when I get out of the shower and before I get dressed. I don't eat breakfast so that's not an issue. I brush with a regular toothbrush to get my whole tongue and mouth clean, then I floss, then I brush my teeth and gums again with an electric toothbrush cause it makes them feel all smooth and clean like I just got them cleaned at the dentist.
I don't do them at night, though I probably should. I hate the way my mouth tastes when I wake up anyway, but it seems like if I brush my teeth right before sleeping it tastes even worse.
Also if I have to do stuff before I sleep I will sometimes get too tired to go to sleep. I'll be too tired to do all the stuff that needs to be done before I sleep, so I'll just have to stay up forever then. And if I do manage to do stuff before sleeping then it gets me all waked up again and then I can't sleep. So maybe I should start brushing my teeth right after supper or something, instead of right before bed.

I brush as soon as I get up, because I can't stand that yucky over-night stale taste in my mouth.
Sometimes I brush after breakfast as well -- depending on how much time I have, and whether or not I eat breakfast at home, or at work (they serve it in the cafeteria here).

mornings for me... as soon as i get out of the shower... cause i don't do the breakfast thing, i mean my luch is at 10:20... so eating at 7 makes one of the two meals worthless...

I don't eat breakfast. Therefore, I brush first thing in the morning. Then some time at night.

Holy blap! I'd heard stories about people who only brush their teeth once a day but I never believed they were true until now. Do you kiss you mother with that mouth? No no, don't tell me.
I always brush after breakfast and before bed, I can't function if I do for feeling like an animal holed up and died in my mouth. I'll also brush at random times throughout the day if I've eaten something particularly fragrant, before theatre rehearsals or what have you.
Now wonder people get cavities.

Morning, evening, and usually some time in between. I try to brush after eating, but usually this isn't possible, so I carry dental floss with me everywhere.

I brush my teeth after breakfast and before bed. But I usually wait a little while between eating breakfast and brushing my teeth so that the taste of my cereal goes away somewhat. Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs and mint toothpaste aren't a very pleasant combination.

after breakfast. I have never had problems with brushing my tounge after eating...I guess I don't have a strong gag reflex.
I also brush them before bed.
If I eat something with a bad taste durring the day, I'll brush them then. I also brush them if I am going to go out for the evening. Never know when you might meet a girl.

I brush my teeth after breakfast, and either right after dinner or before bed, depending on what else is going on that night. Most often, it's before bed, now. When I lived at home, though, it was always right after each meal, and again before bed if we had a late dessert. And yes, that also included after lunch or after-school snack, depending on the day of the week.
This is probably because my mother used to be a dental assistant. It's engrained, now, though. I'm secretly appalled with myself for only brushing twice a day now, but what can you do when you work all day? I can't brush at work, really. And it would be silly to come home, brush me teeth, and then eat dinner. So, now it's only twice a day. Sometimes three times on weekends.

How often do you guys wash your hands? I wash mine a least 10 times a day or else they just feel dirty. Maybe my clean mouth obsession got transferred to my hands or something. <laughs>

Apparently I brush my teeth just as my wife needs to use the toilet. I've taken to using the kitchen sink.

I like to brush my teeth before the taking the shower, because I like to emerge from there completely clean. Brushing my teeth afterwards seems like a hassle. Better to get it out of the way.

I've found that the best solution for icky combinations of breakfast and toothpaste is to brush with water first to remove food particles, then use toothpaste.
Eww...I can't believe we have a thread about this! And that I'm contributing to it!

I brush when I get up and then after I eat-- and every time I eat throughout the day, plus whenever I haven't brushed for a few hours, plus before I go to bed. I have this compulsive thing with tooth-brushing...
