I have played a lot with the Sims 2, it's a great game but I become quite bored by the few choice of clothing and hair styles. I have troubles to find good sites to download new clothes or hair styles for free... Could you help me ?
(I know that with Body Shop I should be able to do my own, but I still find this difficult [Smile] )

I saw a couple on Fileplanet the other day that ... er ... you probably don't want. Let's just say they don't really involve clothes.

Sims Resource has Sims2 stuff, too. They are a partially-pay site. They rotate stuff into free every three days. (At least, that's how they do the Sims stuff.)

I can't play the Sims2 on my computer and can't afford a new one right now. [Mad]

What interest in having skins of sims naked ? I mean, you just have to take the nude patch to see them naked each time they take a shower !

So I paid fifty bucks for this game, and it doesn't even work. It's complaining about not being able to find any "DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters". Is that something I can download, or is it something I need to buy and put in there manually?

If you dled Direct X there is a way to do it. dxdiag
Go to run, type that in. See if it's nvidia or something like that...
Then go to the nvidia site and then dl a driver, but I don't know which one...
If it's another one, try their site...
Hopefully that should help.

Thanks for trying to help, but it turns out my problem is much more basic than that. My video card is outdated, even though it's never given me any trouble with anything before. (Admittedly, I'm not much of a gamer; the newest game I have on this thing is Civilization III. So it's not like I'm upgrading all the time to play the hottest new games.) Basically, I can't play this fifty-dollar game until I spend another fifty or a hundred or so on a new video card. Ain't no way Sims 2 is going to be worth all this.

I'm happy to inform you that I had my first alien abduction, and one of my sim (Paul, a scientist) is the proud father of a cute (and green) baby. When I created his parents, I never guessed they would be grandparents of an alien...

Yeah
I made Faeries and Ville Valo because he's just so pretty with those nice eyes.
I'm going to make him Marry someone in the game and find Anya a husband so she stops cheating with Emilys partner Amber...
And then they'll have babies! [Big Grin]

Cooooooool.
I'm trying to be "moral" with my sims, no one ever cheated on their spouse, except for the alien baby. I was a little sad when I saw in his geneological tree that the spouse of the baby's father wasn't considered as his parent... His other parent is a pollinisator alien.

I got to remember who is going to who... I should just move them all to Veronaville which is a nice little town...
Let's see. Jenna is going to Eva. Ville is going to Katyusha because she needs a boyfriend... And Leo is going to marry Anya if I could just get them all to meet each other...
And the original Moshinsky-Hvorostovskys are just going to get old... I wonder if their son will get Dmitri's prematuring grey hair. That would be so cool!

There has been waaaaaaaaay too much cheating going on in my game. Stupid romance sims. Carlos even cheated with Dmitri. I will go to hell for that, but Carlos WANTED to...

I did ONE romance sim. And I killed him a few days after. Too much cheating, you're right. But even with the other ones... I've been horrified when one of my first sims, old, began to flirt with his son's spouse ! In France the game is sold for 10 years and more, I think it's too liberal since all the cheating involved in it. Not every parent play with a game before giving it to his child.
I planned to create a Austin Powers sim, but he would have to be romance, so I think I won't.

I have never killed any of mine off... But Luke died and he was so cool. He's so cool in my Werewolf story and is majorly old.
At least in my werewolf story Amber does NOT cheat with Odin's MOTHER.

I used the classic pool without a way to go out strategy. It's the only sim I really killed. I nearly killed another one, because he had the science aspiration and wanted to be saved from death. So I did put him in a small room with a stove with food in it, and prevented him to take the food. When the Death arrived, I made his spouse beg it, and he's been saved. You can't save a drown sim, that's why I used this strategy.

BTW, if a sim has a lot of aspiration points, you can prevent him to die from old age by buying the long life elixir. I did it once with the parents of an adorable baby that were growing old, and I didn't want the baby to be taken by the social care. So they lived to see him married.

Patch? What patch? I do not want Dmitri and Kelly to die of old age...
Plus Kelly may be traumatized if she has a new baby which would be interesting...

I bought Sims 2 in October for my birthday. It's still sitting in the box.

I'm not allowed to open it until the end of the semester. [Smile]

Only two more weeks to go!

I just got the Sims2 and am having a hard time with my first family. They had twins right away and it all went downhill from there. In retrospect, I shouldn't have had the dad get a job - especially one where he was going to work at 7 p.m. (security guard) and leaving her alone with the babies. Even calling the nanny wasn't enough. Now the babies are children, they had another baby who is now a toddler and the mom is still depressed. I dl'd something that was supposed to get their needs all green, and would use it to keep their needs filled so I could get them happy again, but I can't find it to buy it for their house. GRRR.

Cay, its best to get one or both adults to at least mid level in their careers before having children. The nicer stuff you have, the easier it is to make your Sims happy, and then you can easily take the 3-5 days off to raise your infants/toddlers. If the mother has a job when she gets preggers, she gets paid maternity leave for a full 5 days, which is great. Then I would advise waiting until your first child is a teenager before having another infant. Or if you get a system going, when its a child. Twins I guess were unavoidable, but I've yet to get them in the game.

I have created about a dozen families, and hundreds of people. My main one though was the first one I waited to have kids in. I had a family modeled after the Starks in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but having six kids at the start was impossible! Then I created an attractive couple, one who desired knowledge and one who desired money, and then had kids when they were both near the top of their careers. Boy were they easy to play after that. The mother would stay home, but still get lots of pay. Reward points I've found were easy to come by as well.

Mainly what I do is make sure that when one sim aspires to kiss, flirt, or backrub another sim, I make sure that I preserve that aspiration (with a right click). Then, when I do the first act, it always leads to something else. Often the desires for both sims will coinside. For instance, my wife sim wants to flirt with my husband sim. When they get together, they flirt, then they want to backrub, then they want to kiss, then make-out, then woo-hoo. After that, both sims have gotten several thousand reward points. In this way my husband sim has 300,000 reward points, the wife has 400,000 reward points, the oldest daughter has 250,000 and the new daughter has about 100,000.

As you can see, this leads to getting whatever aspiration rewards you want. The problem for me is that I can't seem to let my first generation get old. I can easily keep them alive forever by buying Elixers of Life. I've become attached to them, and they are both making so much money and reward points for me, its hard to let them get old.

The problem is that their daughters are of the age to have children, but in order to maintain all those people, I'd have to leave that house, and I've spent a lot of money and time making that house. So we'll see what I decide to do.

I've gotten the game down to a science, so if anyone wants some tips, I can give them. And Synth, I can probably make you some butch female clothes if you want. The body-shop is very easy to use. It just depends on how much free time I get.

It's nice to think that the Sims have a better child-care system than we Americans.
